Today's text:

Proverbs 21:4 - "Haughty eyes and an arrogant heart, the lamp of the wicked ones, are sin"

comments based on WT 2005/10/15

The most important reason to avoid haughtiness is Gods view on this quality. His Word tells us: "Haughty eyes and an arrogant heart, the lamp of the wicked ones, are sin" (prov 21:4). Remarkable the bible warns specifically christians "who are rich in the present system of things not to be high-minded or arrogant (1 Tim 6:17). Christians who are not rich should avoid a haughty eye and consider that everyone, wether rich or poor, can become haughty.

Always think about the bad results of haughtiness. Because "God opposes the haughty ones", we need to determine to oppose feelings of improper praud. While we try to be modest christians, we can look forward to the great day of Jehovah, when the haughty ones and their harvest will be removed of the earth. "And the haughtiness of the earthling man must bow down, and the loftiness of men must become low; and Jehovah alone must be put on high in that day" is what Isaiah 2:17 tells us.

Good morning and thanks for posting the text Barry. I have the Daily Text booklet, but I would imagine many here do not, and appreciate your time and love for us that you show by posting this daily.

The text today was a great reminder. However it (imo) can be applied to spiritual things also.

We can become haughty in the way we deal with others because WE "HAVE THE TRUTH", AND "WE LIVE IN A SPIRITUAL PARADISE" ALL OTHERS ARE GOATS AND NOT WORTHY. WE CAN BECOME HAUGHTY AND JUDGMENTAL and over-righteous much, especially (imo) if we do not allow Jehovah to direct how we deal with others in speech and conduct.

It also seems that our org has become arrogant in elevating itself up in areas that it ought not, and in some instances gone beyond what is written and displaying IMPROPER PRIDE in dealing with issues they know are not entirely truthful; as the sheep are now floundering around trying to make sense of it all, while HOLDING ON TIGHT AND PATIENTLY TRYING NOT TO PUSH AHEAD AND STAYING BUSY WHILE WAITING FOR JEHOVAH TO DIRECT OUR STEPS.

So while we do not want to do anything stupid, like allowing Satan to take over our minds and lives by becoming bitter and leading us around in anger, we do want to stay awake and make sure of all things and ENSURE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JEHOVAH IS STRONG, intact; and that we are following the lead of his HOLY SPIRIT AS HE DIRECTS US, and not trusting in our own understanding or totally relying on others. PSALMS 146:3.

This is a very important time and we must make sure of who we are following and that all lines up with Jehovah's word.

In this way WE DO NOT BECOME HAUGHTY AND ARROGANT. Most of us do not have lots of money anyways. How many (seriously) JW do you know who are rich hmmmmmmmm. Yes I know there are some perhaps many, but realllllly now.

I also know some who have very little and our RICH WANNABE'S. They live beyond their means allowing others to assume they have and are what they are not and have not. So the reminder is OKEY DOKEY, but can be applied to us personally and to the ORG.

Just my humble thoughts. Hope I don't sound negative, I certainly do not mean to come off that way.

Love to you all
