Has anyone come across any material relating to the WTS involvement as a UN NGO and Agenda 21?
I find it interesting that the WTS joined up as an NGO in 1991 and was formally accepted in 1992. It prompts the question as to whether there was any significance in the particular timing of their affiliation.
According to Wkipedia, "the full text of Agenda 21 was revealed at the 1992 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992) United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Earth Summit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth_Summit)), held in Rio de Janeiro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rio_de_Janeiro) on June 14th (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_14) where 179 governments voted to adopt the programme. The final text was the result of drafting, consultation and negotiation, beginning in 1989 and culminating at the two-week conference". So the timing is very interesting, since the implimentation was well flagged in advance.
Agenda 21 is widely viewed as a significant part of the UN's NWO agenda and a blueprint for the future. This link will provide an overview of how NGOs were expected to participate in the education of people to convince them of Agenda 21's benign intent;

I am not clear as to whether the WTS as an NGO would have been a participant in this programme or whether it applied to all approved NGOs. There are certainly some interesting enticements however which would have been of great interest to the GB I'm sure, such as sections 27.11-13 (cash incentives, legal support etc). In return, the NGOs had to promote the agenda.
27.4.To ensure that the full potential contribution of non-governmental organizations is realized, the fullest possible communication and cooperation between international organizations, national and local governments and non-governmental organizations should be promoted in institutions mandated, and programmes designed to carry out Agenda 21. Non-governmental organizations will also need to foster cooperation and communication among themselves to reinforce their effectiveness as actors in the implementation of sustainable development. (Interesting word)
How would they do it?
NGO activities in partnership with local communities NGO activities directed at local communities are usually information based (eg: publications, hearings, newsletters) or activity based (eg: tree planting, recycling fairs, workshops). (I dont think the second option was applicable!) activities, passive and active, aimed at environmental awareness building
informing the public of the effects of their lifestyles on local environments
education, training, and other interactive initiatives in increasing knowledge on the local / global environments
publications, bulletins, checklists, guidelines, etc.
demonstration/pilot programmes and projects
influencing media: newspapers, TV, radio etc.
So do you think this was a consideration? do you think the Awake articles had an enviromental/sustainable development bias? If so, they were either unwitting partners to the NWO agenda or.......
