A Large Stumbling Block

I couldn't find my Revelation book last night, and we were running late with the kids and all, so I just grabbed my wife's old copy. You know, the one we've studied three times previously? I'm still using my old copy too, I have the KM with the changes in it for reference.

Anyway, written on the inside of the cover, in my wife's hand, was "What is the Truth? The Truth is that the Kingdom reign began in 1914, and Jesus Christ is the King." She wrote that years ago, but I know that this is what she still believes, despite everything we've talked about.

I found that to be very depressing. So many witnesses, such a big stumbling block. The Truth is 1914. Not Jehovah's name and its vindication, not a true understanding of the nature of Jehovah, Jesus, and the holy spirit, nor an accurate knowledge of what happens when we die, nor the freedom we have under Christ's law in this wicked system of things. Nope, it's 1914. The elder conducting last night even brought up the "generations" new light we received in the mid nineties, and how when we got the watchtower re-writing prophecy and heard the talk at the district convention, gee, whiz, it all made so much more sense to him than the old understanding. It was interesting to me, because he was all game about it and everything, but he didn't seem very convincing.

Do you think the 1914 issue will be similar? I can't see it going on for more than a decade or two more, though I could be wrong. Surely, at 2014, something will have to give. Do you think it will all be smoothed away, or will this cause a great upheavel among the flock?

I'm just kind of depressed after last nights study. I have been determined to stick it out as long as possible, and get what I can from it, but it is already sapping me pretty good.

When it comes to subjects of dates I just remind myself that it is the imperfection of man that looks for dates. Jesus gave us a sign and what to look for. I try and focus on that and not on a date or someone's interpertation of a date.

Personally I can see how the Society came up with 1914 as a date it's the other dates in the Climax book that have me confused. So I don't focus on it.

Right now I try and read as much news from the world as I can. i try and find the signs Jesus left us. i think those signs are pretty clear to us if you look for them.

Being that 1914 the heavens did NOT give birth to Gods Messianic Kingdom, would also mean that the Temple of God has NOT been cleansed yet

War with the remaing of the womans seed has NOT taken place yet
The dead in Christ are still asleep in their graves,
the generation that the WT taught would be here are most all dead, thats why a needed so called new understanding on the word generation
The self appointed faithfull discreet slave proved to be UNFAITHFULL/ her and the NGO, then this slave denied this fact
The Faithful Slave has NOT been appointed yet, as Jesus has Not arrieved yet,

I empathise with you entirely - it is depressing, but this is surely the right reaction, if it wasn&#39;t depressing it would mean it didn&#39;t matter or you didn&#39;t care.
It must be truly saddening for Jehovah and our Lord Jesus Christ to see so many good-hearted people utterly deceived and misled.
This 1914 doctrine is wrapped up the whole ethos of "The Society" - the idol whic has blinded so many to the truth. We can speculate on how long it would take for "the society" to cast this doctrine aside, but it is unlikely they will have time to discard it!
Take heart brother knowing many of us are enduring similar things. (1Pet 5:9)
I think you are doing well - and I am confident our Father thinks so too.

Hey Juffowup,

The generation information must have been something the society instructed them to bring out at the meeting last night. We also had info regarding the generation in our bookstudy. (hmmmmmmmmmmmm)

As I have mentioned before it&#39;s gonna be a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng year or so with this book.

How I cope with it is by doing research on it from other bible sites. It is interestsing. I even looked up some information from a Seventh Day Adventist site on how they feel about certain scriptures in Revelation. Very interesting. I just do enough to compare what the society is teaching with several other orgs. I don&#39;t do so much research that it overwhelms me. I just put in the particular scripture and ask what does REV so and so mean. Up pops so much stuff, I then read over several explanations and compare with what the society says and then I move on. It makes it more fun for me to deal with.

All in all it will be interesting to see how this system really comes to its end if we are alive, and how the prophecies are fulfilled.

You are right Stayawake we are NOT IN A SPIRITUAL PARADISE. That is why I make sure I do research. Also when I go to the meetings now, I just focus on what is worth eating, and throw out the rest, otherwise, I will always be in a stink mood, like I used to be before I understood what was going on and stepped out on faith and decided to not put my full trust in everything that was being taught. It was then that I stumbled upon this site.

I have learned so much and I am now a much happier person, because I feel Jehovah has blessed me with all this new information. However it took me a lonnng time to work through my spiritual pain and disappointment. Now I really understand what Jehovah says when he says to love him with our whole being, etc.

I feel I am in a good place now. I understand what is going on in and outside of the org. Not everything but what I need to understand for the present time. I understand also some of what will happen in the future.

So, I thank Jehovah that I will not be in total shock when things go down if he blesses me to live when he really intervenes in mankinds affairs.

Spiritual paradise no way, but I am truly grateful for what I have learned
from them before they started to go NUTTY (LAUGHING). I certainly thank Jehovah for giving me the background that I have, I have no idea where I would be now, if I had not been a JW. Phew it gives me the chills to think about my messed up life before Jehovah got hold of me :185:

Thank you eyes&ears so much,and i must say your posts show you are very level headed.
ONE must always remember the good that we recieved from the good sons of God which came from the Org.. This is how we were able to seperate ourselves from the false teachings in Christaindom, what happened,is we knew what we were being taught was the Truth, NO Trunity, NO soul living ater we died, No hell fire, etc.
We eagerly checked out all these new doctrines from the the scriptures to see if what we were learning was really true.
Indeed they were, so we became LAZY and allowed Human Leaders to direct our feet, all to the joy of Satan.
Not only did we allow the human leaders do our thinking, but we also, never questioned anything like we did at first.
We knew what brought us out of Babylon was the truth&#39; so we just went along with everything else.
We really have ourself to blame. We never questioned always accepted,Oh what Joy to satan He again worked himself into what belonged to Jah. One can see how easy it was for him to plant his weeds with the wheat.

,Like Watchman brought out the same thing happened to the Kings that ruled for Jehovah. Satan was always there waiting.
Satan from the very beginning wanted what beonged to Jah. I am sure he applauded with the other angels while Jah was making the earth for man, and it wasn&#39;t too long after that , that Satan also wanted that for himself and look at what he did with it after he got a foot hold .. We now have the whole world lying in power of the wicked one.

The Revelation book is being studied for one reason only and that&#39;s to sure up the wall. There are too many cracks appearing and the plasters want to make sure that other&#39;s don&#39;t see them. The Rev book will reinforce that whole 1914-1919- ethos all the 1920s conventions will be mentioned, down to the understanding of the great crowd in 1935. There is not one word of truth in any of it and the worst thing of all is that they know it. "So that is why God lets an operation of error go to them, that they may get to believing the lie, in order that they all may be judged because they did not believe the truth but took pleasure in unrighteousness." Yet millions will study this book and because it comes from what they perceive the now appointed faithful slave class it must be true. "They have visioned what is untrue and a lying divination, those who are saying, &#39;The utterance of Jehovah is,&#39; when Jehovah himself has not sent them, and they have waited to have a word come true. Is it not an untrue vision that YOU men have visioned, and a lying divination that YOU have said, when saying, &#39;The utterance of Jehovah is,&#39; when I myself have spoken nothing?"

I can&#39;t think of a greater lie than the 1914 doctrine and yes when the wall falls so will many others fall with it that have place there trust in the innermost teaching of the Watchtower&#39;s 1914. So do they walk by faith or by sight? For the many it&#39;s not their fault as they have been misled, but at the same time we all sing from the same hymn sheet, we all have the word of God, we all have the history of the Jewish nation and how they chanted "The Temple of Jehovah, The Temple of Jehovah, The Temple of Jehovah," Yet so many do the same today "Jehovah&#39;s Organisation, Jehovah&#39;s Organisation, Jehovah&#39;s Organisation." How many of us would have got caught up in the Jewish way of life had we lived during the period, probably most of us. The Jews were not necessarily a bad people, and doubtless they were very much like you and I. However, the problem was the backdrop to the nation, and what the priest were getting up to. They were misleading the people with their visions and lying divination, thus people were saying that Jehovah would not do &#39;good and he would not do bad&#39; in fact they didn&#39;t have any real understanding of the wider picture. My wife has asked me in the past why I bother going to the meetings if I feel the way I do. Like so many others she doesn&#39;t get the wider picture and has no idea of what&#39;s going on. Not even the elders are aware of the magnitude of the problem. I once mentioned the 1914 teaching to her but had to drop it quickly as I could see she wasn&#39;t having any of it. Yes the internet is slowly breaking down the wall and the society is desperate to keep it standing by a study of the Rev book.

I have been doing the reading for the past two weeks at my book study. These past few weeks are easy but I know that it is going to take alot of self control to get through some of the parts that bring up actual dates. When I answer i try and be very picky and choosy about what i have to say. Last night i was bringing up "fun facts" about revelation that I had learned from my studying and searching. I brought up how Revelation almost never made it into the bible because men thought it was to harsh of a book and thought it wasn&#39;t by the apostle John. That wasn&#39;t in the Climax book. I also brought up how privileged John was and how he really was Jesus&#39;s beloved to get this message.

I just try and be positive cause I don&#39;t know if others may be experiencing teh same thing so I just try and be upbuilding.
