Can I register for the Discussion Board even if I don't agree with the Terms of Use?
No. We require that anyone who registers for an account not only read the Terms of Use for the Discussion Board, but also agrees with them. As the final step in the registration process, each person is required to send an email to the administration stating plainly that they: 1) Really did want to register for an account; 2) read the Terms of Use/Guidelines; 3) agree with the Terms of Use and will continue to abide by them for as long as they have an account. If we receive an email from a new registrant that lacks any of these elements, we cannot complete activation of their account. Also, if a person lyingly states that they agree with the Terms of Use in order to obtain an account, that is on their conscience; but we do not want anyone here that does not want to be here.
Can I register for the Discussion Board even though I personally don't believe that Jehovah's Witnesses are God's people? I will, however, abide by the Terms of Use/Guidelines in all other respects.
This Discussion Board is provided specifically for those who share our faith as Jehovah's Witnesses. In the past, we've had members of this Discussion Board who had not only left the faith, but remained here on the Discussion Board in order to proselytize the friends to their way of thinking, and or encouraged the friends to abandon their Christian congregations and experience "freedom." For that reason, we felt it necessary to reexamine our stance on such ones and their diverse views, and now disallow this as a matter of policy. We believe that the friends have a right to have a Discussion Board that is free of apostate ideas and influences.
We do hope to re-introduce soon the ability for the general public to ask questions on the Discussion Board that members can respond to, but this will be done using moderation review and will not allow for guests to become involved in discussions, per se. We understand that there are those who may be curious about our beliefs as Jehovah's Witnesses, and want to be accommodating to such ones; however, we recognize that the nature of the internet is such that a person who may appear to be interested or curious is really someone resorting to underhanded or even insidious "probing" questions intended to stir up contentions and stumbling and apostasy--so, ultimately, someone who is curious about our beliefs will always be encouraged to approach their local area Witnesses for more information.
