Ok in the book of Daniel chapter 8 there is a vision of a ram and goat. Now the ram with the two long horns and one horn being longer then the other is Perisa and Media. Now the goat stood for Greece and had one horn but then took out the ram and the one horn broke and four horns went in place of the one horn and out of one of them another horn came.
So my question is this, in chapter 8:17 Gabriel told Daniel that the vision that he saw was for the time of the end. What does Greece and Perisa/media have to do with the time of the end? What does the four horns of the goat mean and the small one that also came?

Hi there Olm,

IMO, Jehovah will give understanding of somethings we do not fully grasp right now when he is ready. At that time, there will be no question as to what those things will mean. Until that time certain issues are SEALED. Whether what you ask is one of those sealed issues or not remains to be seen in the long run..

And I know you already know that OLM, not being a smarty pants here, OKEY DOKEY.

Hi Olm,

of course the initial reference to the single horn of the goat which stood for Greece refers to Alexander the Great. After his demise four Generals replaced him. The shift to the contemporary times relates to Great Britain - the little horn to which you refer.

A study of the other essays written by eWatchman will help you to understand the harmony with the prophesies regarding the King of the North etc. Ultimately these prophesies relate to the time of the end.

Iam coming around to thinking nearly everything in the Bible will have a second fullfillment in the time of the end also.
Those woes in Revelation for instance, what do the society say they are, tracts being issued or something?
Well, why would the ancient Egyptians have suffered all those demonstrations of Jehovahs power in the plauges before his people went into the promise land, if the whole world at the time of the fullfillment of Gods purpose at the end, now, not experience something at least as powerfull a show of Gods strenght if not more so!

And the Hebrews passing through the Red sea, that is going to have an even more striking fullfillment as Gods people at the end pass through into the New System!

No, I think all those woes in Revelation are going to be completely literal, enough to make men faint out of fear.

The vision concerns the "final part of their kingdom" when the little horn symbolizing "a king fierce in countenance" arises. "Their kingdom" is in reference to the successors of the Alexandrian empire. Interestingly, Western civilization, also called the "extended European civilization" traces its cultural and intellectual heritage to ancient Greece. The Renascence was a revival of Classical Greek art, politics and philosophy, which is embodied in the Anglo-American system today. For example, even the symbols of power, such as the Corinthian and Dorian columns that support many government buildings, were borrowed from Grecian architecture.

So, from a broad historical perspective the present system is a continuation of the Grecian civilization. During the "time of the end," we may anticipate that the final king of fierce countenance will emerge from the institutions already in place, institutions that have as their historical foundation laid in Grecian culture. In that sense the little horn will have sprung from the hairy he-goat that symbolized Greece.

Ok now I am getting it. See these things take me a while to understand, I never was a good student at school. Now that I think about it I do notice how many goverment buildings have the columns. Which gives evedence to the fact many nations have ties to ancient Greece. The four horns are the ones who replaced Alexzander, well I must do some research, I love bible history. Now I am starting to really see how the ram and goat vision was ment for the end times.
Thank you all for your help, you have helped me clear some questions that have been bothering me.
