I am a very reserved person by nature and do find the ministry a challenge more so now that I had to realigned some of my thinking. I never was a great ministry person and aux poinner only once and i will talk to persons at work etc when the need is there
I tried steetwork once at a local mall and it was struggle as person were to busy it seems that day but in recent times we have built up a backlog of mags and it seems a shame to dump them so my wife was trying to get me stared again.
Have anyone here had any ideas to make it more enjoyable or any type of approaches to make. It may sound silly but I always start of in the minisry tentative but when i get into a good discussion I am fine.
I've tried prayer before starting but somehow i find this method hard to do. Have anyone have simliar experience .?

Hi Candy
Street work is in many respects more advantageous than the 'Not at home ministry', even though there is apprehension on the part of many to do it as scores of us get into the comfort zone and end up going from one empty house after another. Preaching in the 'market place' as Paul did can be far more profitable. However, it takes courage on our part. It's just a case of mustering up boldness, once you have approached the first person the rest comes easy. It's possible to at least quadruple the number of people you talk to inside one hour, and certainly have a higher literature placement. We may not agree with everything written in the Watchtower but at least it gives direction in coming to know Jehovah and his purpose for the earth.
As for the approach the society as already written much on the theme. One example on ending the discussion is to say "I enjoyed our discussion. Where can I reach you so that we can talk again?" simple really, but effective. Just search the CD-rom. One of the problems and this is only an observation, numerous don't know their way around the literature and some could be better swordsmen in using their bibles. So the key to enjoyment in street work as it would be in any area of the ministry is know the bible and literature better by "Do[ing] your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the truth aright." (2 Timothy 2:15)

Hi kenneth
I totally agreed with your post. I try to pratice my presentation before I go out and what you said make much sense.
In my neck of the woods we find most people at home most time so steetwork is not that commom.
Cariibbean folks are very religious only in well to do areas do we get not homes but I prepared to give this avenue another go.
Maybe it was the wrong time when I tried or maybe I don't care so much for the indirect approach it something I need to work on as I can see that as time goes it more of this type of witness will need to be done more . Know your bible is a big plus agreed.
I've been told I'm too shy as I like working with someone else but I'm getting there as I been by myself sometimes if I'm late to meet the group in service. In the terrority I got to know persons as you met them many time before. To me it's differnrt when the streetwork is away from the area. I know fear of man is no good but it still a bugbear to me
Thanks for you input. it helps

I have never enjoyed streetwork Candy. Never had much success at it is probably why. I have had some good calls in the door to door ministry, but none of those calls ever progressed to the point of baptism. My best success has come from witnessing to people at work, or informally.
Now that I am aware of the numerous false prophecies of the WTBTS my public ministry is done a little differently. I try to use the Bible only, and not place literature. I have been able to direct two of my family members (both are baptized JW's) to e-Watchman, but I have to be very careful. I am still on the "inside" of the organization as they say, and for the time being I wish to remain here. Most of my family are Jehovah's Witnesses, and I do not wish to be DF'd or cut off from them.

Hi Candy
"I've been told I'm too shy"[/b]
You're not on your own. However, street work in my opinion is one of the best ways to overcome shyness. How many people have the ability to approach someone on the street and start a conversation on the subject of religion, I'd say very few. In fact not many in the congregation do it for that very reason. I do know of a few brave souls mostly sisters who venture out early in the mornings. Some of theses were once shy but through there reliance on Jehovah and their boldness along with their quite manor are worthy of Jehovah's praise. Even though street witnessing is an old tradition among many dominations it's still an unemployed avenue. Give it another go and let us know how you got on.

Do any of you remember the TV show, “Leave It To Beaver”? Well just imagine if Ward and June were Witnesses, this was my life when I was growing up and I would do it all over again the same way if I could. I feel really sorry for the ones who regret their JW up bringing as I have seen on some of these sites, not to mention all the youth growing up today, how hard it must be.</span>
