View Full Version : Regarding My Absence From The Forum

Hello everyone.

I just wanted to pop in and let you all know I haven't passed away or anything like that. The last couple of weeks I feel like I have been in video boot camp or something. 10-12 hours a day it seems. It has been a somewhat frustrating endeavor. I started off with the big idea of doing a half hour long video presentation on the wild beasts of prophecy. But after using the video software a few hours I was forced by modesty to scale down my ambitons (for now). Last week I lost about 10 hours of work when the program I was using blew up. After I dried my tears I geeked up my computer's RAM to 4 Gigs and upgraded to Vista, which is supposedly more video friendly. That only created a whole range of other problems because the two programs I was using were not Vista ready. One won't have a patch until sometime next month and the other company provided a patch but for some reason I can't download it. So, I went and bought a third video editing program and after many hours of fooling around the better part of the past week I produced a 6 minute video, (instead of a day for a year it is a day for a minute :189: ) which I plan to present on YouTube. It's called The Six Minute Photo-Drama of Creation.

I don't know when that might be posted though, as I am now having trouble exporting the video file in the proper format. Prior to now I have always depended on Timothy to do all the technical stuff for me. But I decided that I wanted to get into the creative end of video production. So, I am having to deal with lot's of dizzying technical stuff that I have until now preferred to avoid. :Yahoo_22:

Anyway, I'll let the forum know if I ever figure out how to get this thing formatted and uploaded to YouTube. :icon_rolleyes:

Your hard works are appriatiated Watchman, Iam sure you will get the hang of it soon.

When you think of the early Witnesses with thier travelling Photo drama of Creation, make one wonder why the FDS dont use this medium to probably reach people far more effectively than knocking on a door to recieve an automatic "no thank you" ("and please remove your foot").

Re the wild beasts, there are so many of them scattered around the Bible but still relating to one another that I would love to see like a big picture or flow chart of them all on the one page with arrows linking them up and explainations.

ouch watchman. vista is horrible right now. takes up to much memory and lags programs.

If you want a more user friendly video making computer you may want to switch to a Mac. Way better then any Windows based program. Plus quicktime is much smoother in quality then windows media IMO. Or you may want to downgrade down to XP Pro. Which is alot smoother since the patches have been out for it for quite some time and alot of the bugs were fixed.

(Personally just go with a Mac) :Yahoo_22:

BTW glad to see you up and running.

If public talks are for the public and the society's site is for the public, why don't they use it for videoing public talks? Just a thought.

Watchman as Billy Graham once said "Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened."

Actually, Timothy strongly cautioned me not to go with Vista but I did not harken to the voice of my wise Webmaster. :icon_neutral:

As for getting an Apple, my PC is not even two years old and the laptop is just about a year old. So, it would be hard to justify purchasing another machine right now. I will make this thing work. Where's my hammer? ;)

I should have something ready by tomorrow. After this first video the others will come much easier. At least I am hopeful they will. I am excited about using this powerful medium and anxious to see what becomes of it.

Howdy Watchman.

As a word of encouragment, I will use one of my oft stated phrases.

"Everything is hard until you know how to do it. I remember when it was almost impossible for me to tie my own shoes. Now that I know how to, it is so much easier."

(Usually about this time people look at me with the look that says 'What is this guy smoking, and is he likely to sell any of it.')

Hi Watchman,

Thanks for letting us know that you and yours are OKEY DOKEY.

Things may be a little bumpy now, but once you get all the bugs out, you will sit back and smile and think to yourself WELL DONE. :applaudit: We all appreciate your hard work and time.

Okay, I posted this thing to YouTube. I am somewhat disappointed in the degradation of the picture quality. Hopefully, I might be able to fix that later. Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN1w8I4UgWw

In case you are wondering, I didn't do any of the actual animation. I merely bought video and audio clips and stitched them together and narrated. You will propably recognize some of the pictures from the daily pictures here on the forum. :icon_redface:

Watchman-

I just finished watching your creation clip. Very nice!
I loved the music. Along with the voice, it had a wonderful peaceful quality to it.

Hi Shib, sounds you need to get an Apple. :P

FYI. Timothy is in the process of setting up another e-w site just to host videos. So, maybe in a few days you can take a peek -- unless they have blocked all videos.

Also, I would encourage anyone who sees the video and likes it to email it to a friend. Thanks everyone.

haha no doubt. I have been seriously thinking about it.

Looking forward to seeing the videos if you do make another site. That would be awesome. They don't block videos here at work, just sites that host them like youtube. I can download stuff off of IFilm since they don't block that.

Hi Watchman,

I'm just about to buy a new computer system and it will automatically come with Vista loaded. Most of my software probably won't work with Vista, so I am going to set-up my new machine as a dual-boot system with Vista and XP running alongside each other; at least that will help in the short-term until more software patches come online.

Thanks Juan. But I would advise you not to pass the link to anyone in your congregation and go and get yourself disfellowshipped again. :P

Hi Watchman

I also saw your video and would like to express my appreciation for all your hard work. Your love for Jehovah comes through loud and clear.

Just don't do any of this :Crash: it can get expensive.

Thanks for the warning. Actually the PO told me before I was reinstated that the elders are not in the business of spying on people about their internet reading habits. And on the night of my reinstatement he send two new elders (the other two in my original JC moved to other congregations) to talk to me.

There was no question about 1914 or the NGO caper. They only asked if I was repentant. Of course I am repentant about my many sins.

Maybe the PO is surfing the net and is reading the information we are considering here (?).

I don't fully trust anybody in the KH now. Seems like the time to talk still lies in the future. Maybe in the immediate future. I pray Jehovah would help us recognized when that would be.
