<span style="font-family:Arial">According to Shiites, the 12th imam disappeared as a child in the year 941. When he returns, they believe, he will reign on earth for seven years, before bringing about a final judgment and the end of the world. Ahmadinejad is urging Iranians to prepare for the coming of the Mahdi by turning the country into a mighty and advanced Islamic society and by avoiding the corruption and excesses of the West. All Iran is buzzing about the Mahdi, the 12th imam and the role Iran and Ahmadinejad are playing in his anticipated return. There’s a new messiah hotline. There are news agencies especially devoted to the latest developments. “People are anxious to know when and how will He rise; what they must do to receive this worldwide salvation.”
Personally I found this fascinating, it seems to confirm the collision course that both sides are adopting but I'd be very interested to hear the views and observations of others or any additional insight you may have.

Hi Eli's Foe,
It is interesting that the UK is finally getting to this information. Glenn Beck, a radio personality and CNN host of the Glenn Beck Show, has been saying this exact thing since last summer. He showed some real shocking video and clips. He has directed alot of energy into what he calls "The Perfect Storm". Where all these elements single handedly wouldn't add up to much but when put together be uncomprehnsibly huge. I don't follow him much like I used to, but he is still on top of the Iran Agenda.
There was also a Messianic Cult of both Shia and Sunni that was trying to bring this about last month in Iraq. They were going to kill the highest cleric and others in a brazen attempt, but the plot was found out and Iraqi forces and Coalition forces squelched it.
It's all pretty interesting stuff that is going on right now.

You can google the phrase "The World Towards Illumination" and get the page first off...
The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting company had this to say.. It almost seems like a blog...
"Imam Hasan Askari (PBUH), who was martyred at the young age of 28 years in the year 260 AH by the enemies of humanity, had told his 5-year old son Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his reappearance): God will break the back of the oppressors with your hand, revive the principles of religion, brighten world horizons, and establish peace from coast to coast. Even the child lying in his cradle will wish to run toward you. The savage ones in the desert will wish to find their way to you. Every part of the world will become green and fresh."

<div class='quotemain'>I live in Britain although i don`t watch broadcast tv.
Islamic religion has perspectives on an armmageddon type situation that read like displaced parts of John`s Revelation vision.
As the big finale goes down the final beastial government will proberbly be recognised by some Islamists for what it is. That counterfiet kingdom government will, I believe, implement legislature contravening Islamic law. Although the structure and centralised authorities of world wide organised religion will be thrown down, people will still have thier own perspectives.
Some Islamists (as with other groups) i believe will support the associate body of Christ standing against the beast in the last chapters of this present time, coming into the realisation of the real biblical contexts for the Islamic perspectives on armaggeddon.
Others will perhaps attempt guerilla resistance providing a convienient media stereotype to label all resisters to the beast as terrorist advocates ( perhaps also in support of some percieved `Mahdi` or alternatively, westernised muslims might even be accepting the leader or leaders of that final statanic government as some kind of Mahdi).

This article is very eye opening if you have not kept up to date with Iran and it's president's messianic complex.
World Net Daily - Iran prepares people for 'messiah miracles' (http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53964)
Here is an exerpt from the article :
"In short, when he reappears, peace, justice and security will overcome oppression and deceit and one global government, the most perfect ever, will be established," it said.

"My one question from the Christians is: What would Jesus do if he were present in the world today? What would he do before some of the oppressive powers of the world who are in fact residing in Christian countries? Which powers would he revive and which of them would he destroy?" asked the Iranian leader. "If Jesus were present today, who would be facing him and who would be following him?"[/b]
