Sister Dorcas
thank you for you well researched presentation and the clarity with which you deliver it.
It is very much appreciated.
It always has amazed me why the majority of the jewish nation failed to recognise the Christ, especially as scripture shows that they were in expectation of HIM!
Throughout the life of Jesus scripture seems to depict an ongoing debate about the authenticity of the Christ. The main opponents of Christ were the leaders who used every method conceivable to oppose Christ and to alienate the people from his teachings.
accusations of being a samaritan and a worker of satan john 8:v48
authoritive bullying john 7:47-52
a sinner and violator of the sabbath john 9:14
and as we all know many many other accusations, lies , misinterpretation and application of scripture, and authoritive bullying over the common people of the nation of Israel.
However, and i believe this discussion has been active on this Db before, Romans 11 has always intigued me as to the final outcome for the nation of Israel.
romans 11:11-12
therfore i ask did they stumble as they fell completely?
never may that happen. but by their false step there is salvation to people of the nations, to incite Them to jealousy. Now if their false step means riches to the world and their decrease means riches to peoples of the nations how much more will the full number of them mean it!
Paul goes on to use the analogy of the olive tree and the wild and natural branches to show the ability of Jehovah with regard to His purpose and then he says
v 23 "they also if they do not remain in theur lack of faith will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
v25 " for i do not want you to be ignorant of this SACRED SECRET,
in order for you not to be discrete in your own eyes, that a DULLING OF SENSIBILITIES HAS HAPPENED IN PART TO ISRAEL until the full number of the nations has come in.
and in this manner all israel will be saved.
V28 is intiguing Paul says
"true with reference to the good news they are enemies for your sakes but with reference to Gods choosing they are beloved for the sake of their fathers......"
Paul goes on to explain that through their disobedience the gentiles recieved mercy for the purpose that
v31"they themselves also may be shown mercy"
v32 " for God has shut them all up together in disobedience that he might show all of them mercy"
I beleive that scripture evidences that the leaders of Israel are the ones who are held in the greater accountability of their actions because they deliberatley mislead people
Christ himself said in Luke 17 v 1-2
"then he said to his disciples
"it is unavoidable that causes for stumbling should come. nevertheless woe to the one through whom they come! it would have been more advantage to him if a millstone were suspended from his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to stumble one of these little ones""
I find in the scriptures a mercy from Jehovah beyond human ability or indeed understanding, his real anger is directed toward the leaders who know the truth but for whatever reasons blockade others from gaining that knowledge preventing them from knowing Jehovah.
Babylon the great is an example of such an organisation, the leaders within her are intelligent people they must know how false their teachings are, but we know that Jehovah will use the eighth King to destroy her and then the TWO witnesess will proclaim the truth to the entire population of earth.
Who knows how many people will recognise the truth and become part of the Great Crowd personally i think most of the jewish nation will.
Romans 11 v 33
"Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge! .How unsearchable his judgements[are] and past tracing out His ways are. For "who has come to know Jehovah's mind, or who has been His councellor?" "or who has given Him so that it must be repaid to Him?"
Because from Him and by Him and for Him are all things
To Him be the Glory forever
AMEN"
sorry if i have deviated a little i really enjoyed your post.

Well the Jews were expecting someone to become their King literally. They wanted the Romans gone. So when Jesus came to the earth when he started preaching peace and love and getting along with your fellow man, the Jews didn't like that especially the Pharisees and Saducees. The Jews wanted Jesus to rip the oppresive yoke off them. They didn't understand the true meaning adn implications of why Jesus was here.
So it doesn't surprise me that the majority of them didn't want anything to do with him.

yes indeed Shibboleth, but who manipulated their understanding to expect that?
we witness the same deception today it blinds people to the truth even when the truth stands among them even as Christ stood among the Jewish nation.
just my thoughts

Thank you Dorcas-
Concise, to the point and right on target. The truth was in front of them and they refused to see it!
