Dear Friends:
I've been doing some deep research in the Bible and found a stunning piece of information in Revelation pertaining to the black horse at the 3rd seal:
Rev 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances (zugos) in his hand.
Revelation 6:5 – G2218 – Greek zugos: servitude, coupling
Webster's Dictionary: servitude - a condition in which one lacks liberty especially to determine one's course of action or way of life.
http://www.studylight.org/lex/grk/view.cgi?number=2218 a yoke a yoke that is put on draught cattle
metaph., used of any burden or bondage as that of slavery
of troublesome laws imposed on one, esp. of the Mosaic law, hence the name is so transferred to the commands of Christ as to contrast them with the commands of the Pharisees which were a veritable 'yoke'; yet even Christ's commands must be submitted to, though easier to be kept
a balance, pair of scales
Here are the other verses in the New Testament that also use this word zugos:
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke (zugos) upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke (zugos) is easy, and my burden is light.
Acts 15:10 Now therefore why tempt God, to put a yoke (zugos) upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke (zugos) of bondage.
1Timothy 6:1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke (zugos) count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
From WT teaching, I always assumed that the balances only meant expensive or scarce food, but this research seems to confirm what I suspect is the real purpose of the horses: War, bondage, and death to those who don't accept the False Messiah or his one world religion.

Steadfast

Excellent find Sis! Do you think that a global commie feudal system similar to the old ROMAN EMPIRE would fit into this scenario?
Thankfully, it seems there will be a lot more "clay" (resistance) mixed in with the "iron" this time (lots of defectors, hopefully).
Love,
Jesh

Thank you Steadfast for your excellent research!!
Sometimes just a tidbit of information can expand our understanding and depth of comprehension. This new understanding of this one word gives us much to ponder with regard to the coming new world order. Bondage does fit well with what we expect the goal of the "elite" to be.
Revelation 6:8(B) says, "And authority was given them [the horsemen] over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with a long sword and with food shortage and with deadly plague and by the wild beasts of the earth." So, what is the fourth part of the earth that is to receive these plagues?
Much appreciation for your hard work!

That puts a totally differant slant on those scales. How it will pan out will interesting.
Jesh makes a good point about the clay and iron. Not all will agree with the idea of how the scales will be aplied and there wont be a mixing.
Someone else said that maybe there will be an underground movement against the "iron"...so just because these are being pushed onto people, doesnt mean all will blindly follow...thank goodness. We wont be the only ones not to follow,we will have many others in the world who will fight against it. Many will fight for their liberty, just like it is today.JD.

Dear Molly,
You said: 'So, what is the fourth part of the earth that is to receive these plagues?'
Me: If these plagues are brought upon those who reject the False Messiah and his one world religion - one world government, it makes sense to me that these are the ones who are killed by the ride of these horsemen.
The good news is that when we look at that verse in Revelation, we see that:
Rev 6:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell (hades – grave) followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth?
The ones who die at the hand of the False Messiah do not die the second death, but go to the grave and will receive a resurrection.
Dear JD,
Many of us are already in the 'underground movement' but I'm sure it will intensify as the world situation deteriorates. We will probably feed and depend on many for support that might surprise us.
But we already know the outcome, and filling in the details and finding scriptural backing for them is awesome!
No matter what this Satanic False Messiah does, he cannot win. The plagues this False One let's loose on true believers will have no lasting consequence. It is Christ who has the keys to Death and the Grave, and the victory belongs to him.

Steadfast

Hi Steadfast-
Actually I understood that. It was really more of a rhetorical question as to what people are to be included in that fourth part of the earth. And what is the criteria for inclusion?
For instance is it by local (country) or is it religion (like Christendom) based. The reason I asked is that Matthew 24:5,6 says: "For many will come on the basis of my name, saying, "I am the Christ," and will mislead many. 6 You are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that you are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet." Since this is after the false messiah, why is it that we don't need to be terrified. Are these wars in an area not heavily populated by Christians, like say Iran? So, does that mean wars in the middle east? I don't expect anyone to know the answer, but it is something I wondered about.

Dear Molly,
Sorry I missed the point you were trying to make.
If we look at the world situation today, the majority of mankind already embrace the tenets of the New World Order religion. It seems it will be a 'Hinduized' form of Christianity…not that the world will accept the Jesus Christ of the Bible…quite the contrary. The world is awaiting the return of a 'universal christ.' In this sense, it is not the Christ of the Bible, but one who comes under many names: The Maitreya, The Imam Mahdi, The Messiah. This one will appeal to everyone and fill everyone's need under the guise of humanism or human rights. In this sense, it is only the 'office' that is important.
This False Christ (and his followers) will reject/are rejecting the Jesus Christ of the Bible, and that is why those Christians who understand this will not be fooled. None the less, they will become the target. It's interesting that many Christian denominations are already aware of this event unfolding, but it mostly lies in 'fundamental Christianity' or those who stick with the Bible as the Word of God.
One other point I would like to make is the utter failure of Christianity to live up to the principles outlined in the Bible. This failure is already being used against Christianity to show that this 'religion' never was the truth….but a perversion.
So, this seems to be an all-out assault on Jesus Christ…to wipe him and his followers off the planet in the name of this false, one world religion who's foundation lies in Satan and his False Christ. The world thinks this peaceful, prosperous kingdom that is being set up is the answer to the world's problems…those problems being for the most part, religion-generated.
I am in the thick of this in my online ministry, which has become a blessing in unmasking the deception that Satan will use against all Christians who love Jesus Christ. I am just as stunned as anyone who makes a study of this and who realizes the treachery that is now unfolding.
Love,
Steadfast
