Does anyone have any thoughts on Clement? Does anyone know where I can get a copy of his Epistle to the Corinthians?
Considering that Paul ascribes to him a place in the book of life, and that his First Epistle to the Corinthians is part of the Armenian Canon, what are we to make of this letter? Anyone read it?
And before anyone asks...No, I'm not turning gnostic.

The thing to keep in mind is that the Devil has been trying to counterfeit, corrupt or destroy the Bible for a very long time. One method he has used with some success is to inspire some clown to write a quasi-biblical book, such as the Apocryphal books, Cabbala, Koran, book of Mormon, book of Enoch, etc, and then try to pawn these off as authentic holy books. But just because some guy named Clement is reputed to have written an apostolic-like letter does not mean it was written by THE Clement whom Paul mentioned.

Hello SlaveForJah,
This was originally from way back in Nov. 2008. I came across it while searching the topics. I’m not sure which Clement you are referring to. There is Clement of Alexandria (Titus Flavius Clemens) who wrote many commentaries on the Christian Greek scriptures. He is not the Clement mentioned by Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, (Ph 4:3) because Clement of Alexandria lived from about 150 to about 215 CE. According to tradition, the Clement spoken of by Paul, is identical with that Clement who was bishop of Rome towards the close of the first century, (Clemens Romanus). That statement has to be read carefully. You may want to do a search on the internet and choose which sites cover the person and comments you are looking for. Here is some information on Pope Clement I at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Clement_I
As watchman said, “The thing to keep in mind is that the Devil has been trying to counterfeit, corrupt or destroy the Bible for a very long time.” You have to keep in mind the intent of the writer. I have partially read many of the apocryphal books and have copies of a few. Having a knowledge of the bible, I find them to be lacking in the inspiration that the books of the bible have. It is fairly easy to identify them after a few sentences. They lack the ring of truth. The have an amateurish wording and structure about them.
One thing they are for sure is, interesting. I’ve found that they help me to understand the person that believes in them or gives them credit as being inspired. Most of the apocrypha can be found on the internet. I hope this helps.
Happy hunting,
Tsaphah
