View Full Version : Problems Logging In
Administration

We are receiving reports of people having problems logging in to the DB. From what we've been told by members, it sounds like the same issue that seems to crop up at least once a year--and then mysteriously resolves itself again. Because this has gone on for the past few years, it is a known issue, but not something that we can correct from here. We ask that members be patient during this time and keep trying to log in.
If you continue to have problems, send an email (even if you already have sent one) to webmaster@e-watchman.com and include the following information:
Username
Internet Browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, FireFox, iPhone/iTouch)
Operating System (Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, MacOS)
We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am unable to log in from the home page. However, I have found that once I have accessed one of the threads or other pages within the site logging in from there does not seem to be a problem.
Just a suggestion, if you are having trouble.

SlaveForJah-
I was having trouble logging in from the main page too. I tried from this page and had no trouble! Great suggestion!
Thanks

I too cannot log in from the main page, but once I click on "forum", I am able to log on.

Same here, I get a forbidden message from the main page. Then if I log in form another thread it is ok, but like when I went to post this message, I had to log in again to post this message. It's a little annoying, but I will work with it.

Is it not a problem of "cookies"?
I use Firefox 3.0.4.
Do Internet Explorer users have the same problem ?
I'm asking, just in case.[/b]
It's either the cookies or the Bailey's and Jägermeister. :dontknow:
I've had the same problem on Internet Explorer.

I ran into the same problem last week
It was suggested NOT to Log In on the Home Page. It worked.
Like right now to Log In I still have to get onto a forum page to get in.

Unfortunately, the bug is still with us; so I thought I would bring this notice back up front and center for anyone having trouble logging in.

I thought I was the only one with this problem!
But from today, it has reversed! I can log in from the front page now, but have to try several times before it works for logging-in directly from the forums.

There appears to be problems with the personal messaging system. I have had several people attempt to send messages that were never received. Just wanted to give a heads up...

There are several new members of the forum, so I wanted to bring this message to your attention in case you are having trouble logging in.

Bringing this thread back up top for our new members. Sorry for the hassle, but there doesn't seem to be a fix for this bug.

Out of curiosity, do you have cookies set to expire on the forums? I am not familiar with IP board, but am very familiar with vbulletin. In your admin panel, is there an option to set cookies to "never expire"? This way, as long as a cookie is present that has your md5 hashed password present, it should stay valid and active. Also, with vbulletin, there is an option to set the session based on cookie, and not on IP. That means, once the cookie is gone, you're logged out... it is not handled server side based on IP.
To me, the problem seems to be cookie/session based.

I only experience problems with this website when I start at the "http://www.e-jehovahs-witnesses.com" address.
Starting from "http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com" (it's the same, but without the "www." in the beginning) gives me no problems at all.

Looks like the new Log-In Box works just fine.
Thanks Watchman and Admin.
