Hi folks,

During the time that Moses was in the mountain receiving instructions from Jehovah, the Israelite camp became impatient and sinned by worshipping a golden calf. Jehovah told Moses that the Israelites were a stubborn people and then said at Exodus 32:10: "So now let me be, that my anger may blaze against them and I may exterminate them, and let me make you into a great nation."

We know that Jehovah's face was softened by Moses and that Jehovah did not exterminate the Israelites. Suppose, however, that Jehovah carried out his threat and exterminated the Israelites. How would Genesis 49:10 be fulfilled? Genesis 49:10 says: "The scepter will not turn aside from Judah, neither the commander's staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him the obedience of the people's will belong."

Good question. I wonder what Jehovah God meant when He told Moses "let me make you into a great nation". Do you think that maybe God was talking about blessing Moses with children, who would then bring forth children, and so on and so forth until they became a nation? Just a speculative thought.

Yes I would think that Jehovah would have made Moses' offspring a great nation just as he had promised Abraham at Genesis 12:2: "...and I shall make a great nation out of you...."

Of course, Moses had children by the time of the exodus, but since the nation of Israel took time to become numerous, Moses' descendants would take time to become numerous also.

My first thought was to ask if Moses were of the tribe of Judah, which would have fulfilled the prophecy in Genesis 49:10, if Moses were to have been blessed with a nation to produce the seed. But then I figured, Moses must have been of the tribe of Levi, unless I'm mistaken.

Anybody know for sure what tribe Moses was from?

Hi SlaveForJah,

How's it going? :)

Exodus 6:16-25 shows Levi's descendents; Moses was Levi's great-grandson.

Jehovah repeated his words (which he uttered at Exodus 32:10) again at Numbers 14:11-12 where he said: "How long will this people treat me without respect, and how long will they not put faith in me for all the signs that I performed in among them? Let me strike them with pestilence and drive them away, and let me make you a nation greater and mightier than they are."

Jehovah reiterated his words further (at a later occasion) at Numbers 16:21, where he told Moses and Aaron: "Separate yourselves from the midst of this assembly, that I may exterminate them in an instant."

Nash[/b]Hi Nash,

The best answer I can give you is that Jehovah already knows the beginning to the end. Therefore, he KNEW that Moses would plead for the people. Yet, this is recorded in the bible for our benefit, to demonstrate how the "greater Moses", Jesus Christ himself pleads in behalf of the children of God, spiritual Israel.

Hello,

I agree with you.*

Sometimes when reading the Bible it seem's to me that for God human's behavior is a surprise (you man, how can you be that stupid?!?!?!?!?! you see miracles at daily basis and forget it 4 days after?!?!?!?!?)....*

Thing is that first law was very, very strict and ?cruel?..... Ask yourself, if I was living in Moses's times would I survive a week without been kiled for some sin?...*

I bet I would be killed in first 24h and still have hope that Jehovah is going to forgive me and give me another last chance.

Just my thoughts.
