Eyes & Ears

I was reading this weeks highlights Genesis 32-35 from my Life Application Study Bible and found this brief commentary on Genesis 33:1-11 touching personally. Just wanted to share, a few simple basic statements.
"It is refreshing to see Esau's change of heart when the two brothers meet again. The bitterness over losing his birthright and blessing (25:29-34) seems gone. Instead Esau was content with what he had. Jacob even exclaimed how great it was to see his brother obviously pleased with him."
"Life can bring us some bad situations. We can feel cheated, as Esau did, but we don't have to remain bitter. We can remove bitterness from our lives by honestly expressing our feelings to God, forgiving those who have wronged us, and being content with what we have."

I really appreciated that last statement I highlighted in bold.
Made me think of some of the pain some of us went through/still going through not only in our spiritual lives but also our personal lives. Some of us have been through so much if we did not hold on to Jehovah we would not even be able to stand upright today. Some of us are still suffering from the affects of all these hurtful things.
But we had to let the bitterness go (if we were holding on to it or had it at all) If not that bitterness would have eaten us up.
One of the many things that has helped me so very much is honestly opening up and letting it all out to Jehovah. He knows anyway. There is nothing about us he does not know or see. Jer 17:10, Prov 21:2, 1 Cor 4:4, Psalms 103:14, Heb 4:13
The other was forgiveness. I don't know about others, but I was not able to forgive myself for a very long time. I was my own worse enemy. I beat myself up so bad my self esteem and self worth were minus zero. I had to learn to see myself as Jehovah sees me. Imperfect human who makes mistakes. It took me years to learn I am not my mistakes, nor am I a mistake. But I do stumble and make mistakes, and when I truly express my sorry to my father Jehovah, he forgives me period. But I understand I will still suffer the consequence of my erring way. Ps 130:3, Ga 6:7
I had to learn to look at those mistakes, turn them around and use them as
personal and spiritual learning tools. After crying out to Jehovah for how to do this, I was not only able to forgive myself, but forgive others and then I was able to slowly move on. I guess that is what is called "letting go", being content especially with all those LITTLE BLESSINGS we sometimes take for granted.
Have a wonderful evening all.

P.S. Just had to say a little something humorous. Wonder what Jacob was really feeling inside after 20 years or so, knowing what he had done to Esau. Betcha he was shaking in his pants. (Did they wear pants or skirts then hmmmm)
