Text for Tuesday, 27 March 2007

In all your ways take notice of [Jehovah], and he himself will make your paths straight.—Prov. 3:6.

When we are faced with making any decision, we must ascertain pertinent Bible principles and then use our mental faculties in applying them. Often, the choices we make affect others, and we need to give consideration to this. The first-century Christians, for example, were no longer under many of the dietary restrictions of the Mosaic Law. They could choose to eat certain foods that were considered unclean under the Law and were not objectionable in other ways. However, the apostle Paul wrote about meat of an animal that might have some link with an idol temple: “If food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat flesh at all, that I may not make my brother stumble.” (1 Cor. 8:11-13) Thus, true Christians are encouraged to show consideration for the consciences of others so as not to stumble them.—1 Cor. 10:29, 32. w 3/15/06 14, 15

Oh, if only we would heed these words, would not our lives be so much better. Jehovah only has our best interest in mind. He loves us and only wants the best for us.

I believe that if we keep in mind that all the choices we make affect us for the REST OF OUR LIVES and that we will be responsible and accountible for all the after affects and consequences of those choices I sometimes think (especially in my case) that we would slow down. I believe if we SINCERELY ASK JEHOVAH FOR HIS DIRECTION, WAIT ON JEHOVAH AND THEN ACT, not lean so much on our own understanding, AND TRULY COUNT THE COST before we SPEAK AND/OR ACT we most likely will be more successful in all areas of our lives.

It is true, what we say and do not only affects us forever but those who we interact with.

My 2 cents worth  :185:

hi Barry and eyes and ears,

yes the butterfly effect . our action and also our inaction effect ourselves and others.
we see examples of this everyday.
how we treat people can effect how they treat us and others.
how we spend our finances can lead ourselves in to financial difficulties and also people who rely on us.
the big one for me is how we run our societies by reliance on the motor vehicle, the effect is global warming, rising sea levels and disasters for people who live thousands of miles away.

psalm 37 is all about the contrast of the wicked and the righteous

v 3-5 reads " trust in Jehovah and do good. reside in the earth and deal with faithfulness
also take exquisite delight in Jehovah and he will give you the requests of your heart
Roll upon Jehovah your way, and rely upon Him and He Himself will act"

indeed the consequences of our actions can be immense, but the future holds a time of reckoning when a decision will mean eternal life or eternal death for everyone alive.

rev 14:9-10 "and another angel, a third followed them saying in a loud voice "if anyone worships the wild beast and its image and recieves a mark upon his forehead or upon his hand he will also drink of the wine of the anger of GOD that is poured out undiluted into the cup of his wrath and he shall be tormented in fire and sulphur in the sight of the holy angels and in the sight of the lamb""

let us Pray to Jehovah that our decison making under whatever pressures that might exist at that unprecedented time will be favourable to Jehovah.
