This weeks study was very informative, in that it showed us what we need to do to continue being faithful to jehovah. It also showed us how easy it is to be distracted, and how we need to continue to preach the good news even on days we would like for ourselves. even if it's just to spend some time with an old friend or brother, telling stories bout the old times. those moments help us to appreciate what we have now, and to not take things today for granted.

On page 13 ..I have a suspicion he drove to see the brother in that car...

Can someone please explain to me the parallel being drawn between ministering and driving a convertible and having nicer things...as 'wasting your gift'??
Jehovah gave us each a brain...we are all considered students learning from our teacher...
I can't understand how learning a special skill which in turn gives your life a little ease financially is bad? I have spent years training myself in my profession so that I can make something for my family, so my Daughter can go to college, so if I reach retirement age, I'm taken care of and not a burden on my family. Because until Jesus comes...we have no choice but to take care of these things and it's our responsibility.
We are unfortunately part of this world in a fleshly sense and at this point and time, we ARE growing old, we ARE dying.
I just can't stand how the society promotes that education and making something out of your life is bad....."Keep doing more and more and more for 'the kingdom' until your dying age and when that comes...well, live off the state, that's what they're there for. And if you're extremely fortunate to have family turn the other cheek after you've shunned them all these years because we told you they were evil....good for you! But if they help you, we'll no longer have contact with you because this demonstrates a lack in faith that God will take care of you, HOW DARE YOU TURN TO WORLDLY SOURCES!!!! Now none of the Brother's or Sister's can visit you because you live with your DF'ed Son/Daughter, but don't expect any of us to come forward and help you!"
Here's a good example of dismissing our elderly....this was posted on another forum, I found it to be so sad!!!
Mystery Woman found at mall (http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2009/03/now_we_know_her_name_elba.html)
What in the world?!?!!? She didn't like her Daughter's B/F so they stopped talking....
I'm making an assumption here...but I'm guessing the daughter was being shunned.
She didn't even know where her Mother was after all of these years....assumed she moved back to Columbia.
It just makes me sick.
I make a plea to everyone here and anyone who may be lurking...Love one another! Take CARE of one another! If you have the ability to do so....by ALL MEANS please do so!
Wasting our 'gift' can come in MANY forms! Not just having nice things....but having the ability to take one of these Elderly or sick ones in and helping them.
The best minister we can give our fellow man is to care for them and LOVE them even if they reject US.....THAT'S turning the other cheek! Continue to keep in touch with our family. Isn't that what Jesus did?! He died for ALL of mankind so that they might have a chance at everlasting life...not just a certain group of people...but ALL of mankind...even though he was rejected! Dying so that even his enemy had a chance at redemption! And once those that accepted him as their savior came forward...Now it's their turn to show that love and understanding to others....in order to bring them to Christ.
I can NOT STAND how this love is limited ONLY to those inside the congregation! And even then, ONLY if they're in good standing!
People with 'no natural affection' indeed.
Ok, my rant is over. *sheesh*!!
I know this doesn't apply to EVERY single person in the congregation...but I know it's more common than not. In my personal experience, I've only known a handful of ones that would give you the shirt off of their back. Again, maybe I've just had a bad experience, but it has definitely defined this group of people in my head and heart. I ask Jehovah everyday to help us remain balanced and contain our anger in order that we may help one of these discarded sheep even if they've been the discard-ee at one point.
With tears,
Emma

Why do you limit your love this way?
