Was reading some of the really old magazines from June 1st 1916, it shows that Brother Russell baptised once a month on sundays, those who came along and felt they were ready, when did this arrangement change?
This is the section below.
"Answering many inquiries, we announce that Brother Russell endeavors to serve at the New York City Temple on the first Sunday of each month. In the forenoon of such days there is a baptism, with every provision for those finding it convenient to be immersed at that time"
I wonder what the requirement was?

Elizabeth[/b]The requirement was simply wanting to do it... much like with the Ethiopian eunuch. I imagine that Russell would say a few words about what baptism represented, and then ask if anyone present wanted to be baptized. If someone wanted to be baptized, then that was between them and their Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. Since it was not Russell's job to judge his brother to see if that one really wanted to dedicate themselves or not, he probably just simply left matters into Christ's hands, and baptized ANYONE who presented themselves for baptism.
In the scriptures, it seems that ones were baptized the very day they heard the good news... there was no long <strike>walking over the coals</strike> training process involved.

Thank you Littleone,
if it had been like that years ago, i would have got baptised while the fire for the truth was blazing, now its dragged out questions and have to prove yourself on the doors before qualification, surely thats not right.

plus, nowadays baptism means devotion to the GB! They can disfellowship u from ur brs and srs (and in their eyes, from a relationship with jehovah) for disagreeing with the GB... but baptism doesn't mean u dedicate urself to the GB, does it? Who are they to judge your faith or believes... that is what went wrong, when they turned the truth into an oild machine, a big religion in a pyramid form, with at the top the governing ones! That is not what Russell had in mind, and CERTAINLY not what Jesus had in mind..
I think about baptism they had an accurate view in the early days of Russell, the biblical view!
