There is an upper eschelon of NGO's that have what is called "consultant status." Another designation of NGO's have what is called "Associate status." The Watchtower was the latter. Exactly who got involved? was it the president.....GB....some renagade witnesses.....who was it?

I could not imagine any "renegade" Brother doing something like this w/o authorization coming directly from the GB, could you Excalibur? If someone did, I am certain he received some serious form of discipline. But my hunch and gut feeling is that this authorization had to come directly from the top, with the entire GB authorizing the status as an NGO so that they could get their "library card". If they would show us a copy of the original application I would be curious if the President (of the WT Corporation) did sign the application or someone else. If anyone knows please share that with us.

There was a site set up called the 'Nathan class' by a former poster Sonofconfort he appears to have taken the site down though. I'm sorry now I didn't get the documentation form the site. However, I do remember seeing the document that had the names of the governing body on them.

So many good brother's have been stumbled over the issue and all society do is blame apostates for causing trouble when it was they who joined in the first place. If they are innocence then they should produce the paperwork to prove it, in my experience people who can prove their innocence do so to clear their name, strange how the Watchtower hasn't done so. The society appears to be incapable of apologizing and why I don't know, if only they would do so and come clean then all who were brought before committees on grounds of apostasy could have their names cleared.


All the brothers wanted were a clear cut explanation for their involvement with the UN and what's more have every right to know as the Watchtower is a charity and meant to be transparent. Most brothers have big hearts and would have forgiven them and carried on in their ministry, why, why, why, they didn't do it at the time for the life of me I don't know. All they did was too provide real apostates with more ammunition to attack them. Sometimes I just don't think they care enough about the small people and how their lives have been affected by this issue.

Recently I emailed the DIP in an attempt to get to the bottom of this but I have had no reply so I will have to rely on your knowledge.

Apologists for the NGO saga have maintained that the society had done no wrong. Those defending the issue say that there are different NGOs, those associated with the DPI (as was the society) and ECOSOC. They assert as the society were not associated with ECOSOC they made no compromise.[/b]The problem I&#39;m having is finding out the information on NGOs prior to 2002 as the DPI reviewed what an NGOs function was in that year. Was this the criteria before and what&#39;s been added ?


"Associated NGOs are expected to devote a portion of their information programmes to promoting knowledge of the principles and activities of the UN. In addition, an evaluation and review process was in place in 2002 wherein NGOs associated with DPI are expected to keep the DPI/NGO Section abreast of their activities by providing a quadrennial report of their UN-related activities and samples of their information materials relating to the work of the UN. The information materials are also made available for perusal at the DPI/NGO Resource Centre"[/b]

This may put some at ease.
When i first heard and read about the WT and NGO, i called the UN.
It took four different phone numbers before i was connected to the right department. The conversation went like this.

I MUST know if it is true about the Wt becoming a NGO member.
Why would you want to know he asked with interest.
I told him it was very important that i DID know as my spirituality was at stake. He said yes, it was true.Then said that when it came out in the Guardian UK paper , thoudands of calls were coming in and jamming up the circuit lines, so they had to make a special line just for this subject.
He then asked ,How i felt about learning this
I replied that i was crushed
He wanted to know why i would be upset, and i replied
I know you won&#39;t under stand this but we were taught by the WT that you are the image of the beast in the Bible book of Revelation

I realized then his faith was not of Christain
As he exclaimed" A BEAST " and i told him yes, thinking i had better not mention the devil.

He assured me they were no beast and would never hurt any one, and for me to please tell my friends that they were not a "beast"
I then asked him , "How did i know for sure that he knew for a fact that the WT was a NGO"
His reply was that he was the chief of the NGO, that his name was ( won&#39;t mention) and that it is his signiture that is on all NGO documents.
He was more believable then the Wt sad to say,

I might add ,to read about,the names of those who enrolled the WT into the NGO ,( they were all up the top,) Barabra Anderson has a true story on that. She and her husband are the ones who who have the silence of the Lambs web site

It would have been interesting to have been a fly on the wall at the UN in 2001, what they must have thought I don&#39;t know.

There is a reason why I&#39;m trying to find the documentation. Even though I&#39;m fully convince of the Watchtowers sin at the UN I need to find it for a particular reason to convince someone of the criteria that Associated NGOs made to the UN between 1991-2001.
