Hi there, searchers for truth! Welcome to the board and hopefully you will find love and support and maybe even some answers to your questions! :)

By the way, it seems to me as if the amount of members of this forum is growing rapidly... as if the JW society is awaking... ;)

Good for you Scrappyd. :icon_razz: :y:

You followed the footsteps of Jehovah's son, by getting baptized. Jehovah is pleased.

Keep on MAKING SURE OF WHAT IS ACCEPTABLE TO THE LORD;

Getting Baptized was the greatest day I have ever had. Satan gets real tough on you though. Hates to lose one of his. Hope it ends soon though.

Im sure you will have the same great day too soon.

Welcome scrappyd, great news you being baptized after so long, I guess you made sure of all things. You will learn a lot on here, and we have a great range of different folk, but all with the same purpose to learn more about our Father Jehovah and progress in our knowledge of truth from his word.

cheers :liefde020:

Yes, It is a wonder how we have to get out and learn the hard way for ourselves sometimes.

The only problem is somtimes we pick up habits that take many years to break. Mine was smoking and although it was the least of my wrongs, it was the hardest to quit and so it is one of satans greatest lures in his tacklebox for me. For others.....

Thanks for the welcome,

[/b][/quote]I bet you feel great though no you have, I can understand so well as this was my biggest problem, and every now and again I still feel like a cigarette, but the smell makes me pewk, so thats a good thing. I thank Jehovah every day for his help in helping to stop. I know some in the world stop without Jehovah, but I always looked at it from the spiritual sense, that we had Satan at our heals, so that was double trouble. But isn't' is wonderful to be free of that disgusting habit, rejoice. :ban_dance01:

cheers.

Yes, thank you vet much.

I was talking to an elder in my hall who stopped smoking in the 70's when it was said that JW's could not smoke anymore. He tells me he still thinks of smoking every once in a while, so noone is above it.

Smoking is so hard! My mom left the hall because of the org problems, but within a few years after she was gone, she went back to smoking again. That was after about 20 years! Without the support and constant reminders, it was too easy to go back to that habit. I thank Jehovah all the time that I never tried it.

That is one lure Satan will never lose from his bag of tricks. I think it has stopped many from becoming a faithful servant of Jehovah.

Smoking is the only thing I know of that is bad for your health, it shortens your days on the earth, makes you a slave to it, here in Canada, it is over $10.00 for a pack of 25, so it takes away a great portion of your money, all for what, to breath in smoke and breath it out again, wow, that is a good one. What is the gain or pleasure?

A Little late in repy to this, but smoking is an addcition to nicotine and it gives 'pleasure' to satify the addiction. There is a bigger 'drug' to be addicted to and thats a better life from having our spirituality being satisfied.

Drug of so many sorts are appealing because people are looking for a buzz of some kind because their life is empty from not knowing Jah and His love towards us.

Knowing there really are so many other true pleasures that come from our spirituality far outweigh the death-dealing short term pleasures from drugs. When we know about the longterm,short-term stuff is 'easier' to overcome.
