Good morning all,

Yesterday in the public talk this scripture was used to show that in our time/now the world would be engulfed in spiritual darkness. Well that certainly is true, there is certainly spiritual darkness. Most people today are not interested in what God has to say.

However is that what this scripture is really talking about? :icon_neutral: :dontknow:

Thanks for any responses.

I don't know whether the timing of the application is correctly applied to today but I think the meaning is pretty much accurate. This may be one of those verses/chapters with a more general application that applies at all times, or it may have a specific fulfillment to look for. I think a lot of general application scriptures are misapplied as meaning something for a specific time, place, and people. This one, I don't know but I'm leaning toward this being a general state of affairs contrasting God's people and the world's.

Hi Sis! I think the world has been in spiritual darkness since the latter part of the first century. And while it may be true that more people than ever are not interested in God, we've also never had 6 billion+ people on the planet. There are a lot of people who are becoming very spiritual while rejecting religious dogma. Religions are dividing the earth, and the Watchtower is right in the thick of it, judging everyone else as inferior and unworthy. We reject globalism as a conspiracy against God, but that is really God's plan, and Satan has counterfeited it.

It seems obvious to me that people are waking up, all over the place, to what our problem really is (our egos) and how to fix it. I just think they're more likely to find good clues in a yoga class than a Kingdom Hall.

Love,
jesh

Hey Jesh :icon_razz: :y:  ,

You sure do have a point there about religions causing a division. This morning I woke up thinking what in the world am I doing. What do I really believe, I can't take this stuff anymore. Then after prayer to Jehovah, I sort of got a quick grip (LOL)

Thanks for your expressions Jesh, good to see ya.

Didja ever have those days Jesh. :203: :D SHEESH.

I see sections of my community waking up also Jesh - the dogmatic approach of doctrines casuses much division and persecution within religion - some people outside of religion have discovered the power of love for neighbor and the planet is the solution

when will the wto get it - God is love - thats what we should be preaching

Hello eyes and ears

I understand your unrest - i feel it too - i went to a meeting on the weekend - havnet been there for a along time - there was so much critisism about so many things - it felt very negative to me - even though there were some enlighting information - one has to have their mind filter on full throttle

I watched a disturbing documentary last night on Nigeria - childen being accused of withchcraft were being tortured, mutelated, and killed - it was disgusting - all done in the name of Jesus - a pentacostal church of 150 churchs in the countryput out a video telling the followers to watch out for certain behavior and events in their communities and explaining these were caused by the children being possessed by demons - the video they produced was very graphic and disturbing - one guy from england discovered this situation in Nigeria and decided to do something about it at the risk of his own life - he set up a childrens refuge and rescued many childeren who had been severly damaged - he organized a children protest prossession down to the govenments headquarters at which the govenment finally did something about it - but was very reluctant to come down on the church producing the video - eventually he did arrest the main woman from the church promoting this disgusting superstition in the videos the church put out

my point i am trying to make is this guy knew what chiristanity meant - love - no doctrines were mentioned or which christian church he belonged to - maybe he didnt belong to any church - if i was one of those children - when i grew up and started trying to figure out the meaning of life - his example of love would have a big influence on my conclusions

just seeing this type of love in action was very inspiring to me - more than the public talk and the wt study

when Jesus was healing and helping people mentally, spiritually and physically he didnt ask them first if they believed in the doctrines of the pharasees or the saduceses - he went to the people who needed healing not the healed
