Awake 11/22 1998 - Long Job Finished

Hi,

My brother, who is not baptized yet, read some information on the WT as NGO.
He saw a screenshot where the awake 1998 "A long job finished" (p3-5) was mentioned on the site of the UN as promotional article.
He asked me if I could send him the article from our WT library. For the moment I only have access to the library on my mobile phone (version 2007). I was searching for the article but could't find it.
It was strange that for all Awake's I checked, the pages start counting at 3 but for that specific edition, it starts counting from 6, so no article "A long job finished".
Now I was wondering if that is due to my mobile version, or if the article was removed from the library.

Is there anyone who can check this on the CD version of the library, or on the bound volume? I don't have the bound volumes from before 2000.

Thanks for this info, i never knew this article existed..i was out of the truth at this time, perhaps its good i was, i may have gone on a protest myself if i had read this. What an insult to Jehovah, this sort of thing is turning up all over the place, how do you explain this to interested individuals, who will sooner or later become aware of this material.

Well, it can be good news and not so good news, depending on how it affects him. He can accept what the org says if he writes and gets one of their NON ANSWERS, or he could continue to pursue it and then you would probably know a little more on where he is going with it, and how he feels.

I pray it does not shipwreck his faith IN JEHOVAH, but starts him to question some of what is happening inside Jehovah&#39;s household. Perhaps after he gets over the shock of it all he will balance out and start looking for more info just as we all here have done.


So keep your relative in prayer OKEY DOKEY Barry, and help out with Jehovah&#39;s direction as you cautiously can. Hope you are able to keep us posted. You are in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Here is a copy of the letter that the society sent to the elders about this matter, your family member obviously didnt recieve one.

Dear Brothers:

Because of published allegations by opposers that we have secret links with the United Nations, a number of branches have inquired about the matter and we have replied. This circular letter replaces any replies we have given earlier and is sent to all branches. To anyone inquiring within your branch territory you might respond according to what is stated below:

Our purpose for registering with the Department of Public Information as a nongovernmental organization (NGO) in 1991 was to have access to research material available on health, ecological, and social problems at the United Nations library facilities. We had been using the library for many-years prior to 1991, but in that year it became necessary to register as an NGO to have continued access. Registration papers filed with the United Nations that we have on file contain no statements that conflict with our Christian beliefs. Moreover, NGOs are informed by the United Nations that "association of NGOs with the DPI does not constitute their incorporation into the United Nations system, nor does it entitle associated organizations or their staff to any kind of privileges, immunities or special status."

Still, the Criteria for Association of NGOs-at least in their latest version-contain language that we cannot subscribe to. When we realized this, we immediately withdrew our registration. We are grateful that this matter was brought to our attention.

We trust that the above is, helpful in counteracting the attempts of opposers to discredit us.
