glaring in its omission from the special talk was any mention of the fact that the world is unrelentingly lurching towards nuclear war and global financial collapse.)[/b]

Hi all

Yes I thought the talk was going to send the Brothers into a deeper sleep than ever. I did note how the speaker brought out that we need to be inside the spiritual ark, but I couldn't help thinking to myself what happens when the ark doesn't sail but sinks at the tribulation with Jehovah's judgments. What a humiliation. What confusion.

The weekly bible reading though Jeremiah has said it all. Interestingly the brother keeps saying this has a modern day parallel and yes apply it to the world, Christendom and the congregation. Which one is it meant to be. I know some are becoming confused by who it applies to and is it any wonder.

Yes the special talk was nothing but run of the mill stuff, nothing of any interest was said in fact it wasn't that special at all.

It is possible that the brother you heard threw that in from his personal observations. Or, it is possible that if it was on the outline the elder that I heard omitted it for some reason. (I don't think I nodded off) But, seeing that the WT has not called attention to the world's present condition I would imagine the local elder you heard inserted it. Perhaps the observations of a few others might verify one way or the other.

the brother that gave the talk in my hall was from another congregation. He is one of the best speakers I have heard. Very intelligent.

It may have been the same rehash we have heard all through our spiritual lives but I feel that it was a good rehash. It at least kept my attention.

Yes, it was sad. Same old drum beat of 1914. I felt true sorrow and pity for all those listening who are swallowing this garbage. They have been skinned and thrown about.
</span>Matthew 9:36 On seeing the crowds he felt pity for them, because they were skinned and thrown about like sheep without a shepherd.
</span>
The farther we get from 1914 the less effective this message is going to have on potential new believers. I left the meeting feeling a little down that we continue to get feed this same old vomit.

Well, so far it&#39;s unanimious..

I too was expecting to hear of some new &#39;insight&#39; or that the light was getting BRIGHTER. I did not hear anything that would shed new light of our present time and it does seem like 1914 is becoming less convincing even by the brother giving the talk. If you ask me, the long drawn out explaination of nation against nation, pestilences, etc.. were not for the benefit of the few extra people (the public) that attended. No, the talk was directed at the congregation, but it was all WT brand of milk.

I also don&#39;t recall any mention of financial collapse or nuclear war, but I did note how he mentioned terrorism as equating to wars.. So, all in all, there was nothing SPECIAL.

I vividly remember all those years I spent witnessing to people with the 1914 rant. I must admit that at one time it didn&#39;t sound completely off the wall. But this is 2007 and the "glue" of the doctrine was the 1914 generation teaching. So now this is open-ended, unchartered waters they are in. The prophecies have been sealed up permanently, due to most of them already being "fulfilled". So at this point in time, with what urgency can anyone respond when the entire sermon centers around events that not even their grandparents were alive to see?

The worst part of all of this is that according to WT doctrine, Jehovah has sanctioned all the bloodshed since 1914. Think about it. Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Khmer Rouge, Idi Amin, Kim Jog Il....
Why on earth doesn&#39;t anyone question this reasoning?

Robert ... not only was the theme of this year’s special talk an indirect public response to the work you have done in the past few years of calling the Watchtower to account as regards the falsity of 1914, spiritual paradise and other related teachings, but if you look on the back page of the June 2007 Awake! magazine, you will see a further response forthcoming from the Brooklyn headquarters on your work through some of the upcoming talks at this summer&#39;s "Follow the Christ" District Conventions. Some of the talk titles include"

Do Not Follow False Teachers
Do Not Follow False Stories
Keep Following The Lamb Wherever He Goes
My Sheep Listen To My Voice ... and They Follow Me
Help Them Return To The Flock

It sounds to me by these talks we are going to hear that the work you are doing Robert (and some others like yourself on the Internet also) is having a direct impact on frustrating the plans of some of the evil slave class in our organization. Keep up the good work brother. Some of us will listen. Most though are worshiping an organization, and will not see it until the whitewash walls come crumbling down. But some of us have esacaped from worshipping this golden calf. Thanks again for teaching us!

I was ill so did not attend meeting on Sunday. Hubby taped talk, but it was so garbled, I could not make any sense of it. HOWEVER, it must have not been that special because he said so few people showed up THEY DID NOT ANNOUNCE HOW MANY ATTENDED.

He said that when he used to be a servant and took count, and so few showed up he was told the number would not be announced because it was so few, and they want to encourage, not discourage !!!!!!!!?????????? (APPEARANCE)

Guess I did not miss too much huh.

GLAD WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN STUDY PROGRAMS OR ELSE WE WOULD STARVE TO DEATH SPIRITUALLY.
