Hello Brothers and Sisters,

Warm Greetings in Christ.

The topic for this thread came up in a recent discussion with a family member, and I realized I didn't have an answer, so I decided I would throw it out to the board members here.

So, who reads the heart? Is that solely the domain of Jehovah, or does Jesus have that ability and responsibility as well?

Jesus has been given all power and authority to judge mankind in Jehovah's behalf. In order to righteously judge he has to know what motivates a person. Hence, Jesus uses his power to read the inner motivations of the heart to judge his congregation.

"And her children I will kill with deadly plague, so that all the congregations will know that I am he who searches the kidneys and hearts, and I will give to you individually according to your deeds." Revelation 2:23

Thank you for the quick reply, Watchman.

Your thoughts match mine in this regard. But I couldn't think of a scripture off the top of my head. Thank you, as well, for providing scriptural support.

Thank you for that Robert,
Could you help me with this question please, if Jesus is king, why has Jehovah become king? which is the title of one of your brochures, i always get confused with this one. And if all authority is given to Jesus, why is it called the "the day of Jehovahs anger"?

Great question to learn. I found this:

*** w92 10/1 p. 18 par. 16 The Messiah’s Presence and His Rule ***

*** w92 10/1 p. 18 pars. 15-16 The Messiah’s Presence and His Rule ***

Consider what ‘the spirit of mightiness’ will mean in Jesus’ rule. When he was on the earth, he had a degree of mightiness from Jehovah, enabling him to perform miracles. And he showed a heartfelt desire to help people, saying, “I want to.” (Matthew 8:3) But his miracles of those days were just a foregleam of what he would do when ruling from heaven. Jesus will work miracles on a global scale! Sick, blind, deaf, maimed, and lame people will be healed for all time. (Isaiah 35:5,*6) An abundance of food, fairly distributed, will end hunger forever. (Psalm 72:16) What of those countless millions in the graves that God is pleased to remember? Jesus’ “mightiness” will include the power to resurrect them, giving each the opportunity to live forever in Paradise! (John 5:28,*29) Yet, even with all this mightiness, the Messianic King will always be profoundly humble. He finds “enjoyment .*.*. in the fear of Jehovah.”—Isaiah 11:3.

16 This King will also be a perfect Judge. He “will not judge by any mere appearance to his eyes, nor reprove simply according to the thing heard by his ears.” What human judge, past or present, could be described that way? Even a very judicious man can judge only by what he sees and hears, using whatever wisdom or discernment he may possess. Thus, judges and juries of this old world may be swayed or confused by clever sophistry, courtroom antics, or conflicting evidence. Often it is only the wealthy and powerful who can afford an effective defense, in actuality buying justice. Not so under the Messianic Judge! He reads hearts. Nothing will escape his notice. Justice, tempered by love and mercy, will not be for sale. It will always prevail.—Isaiah 11:3-5.

Hello Shikinah/Elizabeth,
Maybe I can answer this for you. Jehovah is king, head, leader, of all his creation. That is why it is "the day of Jehovah's anger." Jehovah's purposes were called into question by the one called Satan. Jehovah has to have his name cleared and made holy. The time has not come for him to hand his creation over to His Son yet. When that time comes, He will hand over the reign of all his creation. At that time, Jesus/Michael will become king of kings and ruler of all of Jehovah's creation. He will inherit it as promised from the beginning. This will occur at the end of the thousand years.

I will get back to you with scriptural references. It also involves some historical background about the arrangement of kings and rulers, and the "right to rule".

Philadelphos,
Tsaphah :)
