Thou shalt not think for yourselves. Thou shalt not research information. Thou shalt not ask questions. Thou shalt not associate with people who do such things.

Isn't that from the Book of Watchtower?
Oops, I just broke rule #3.:191:
agape,

The Watchtower's implication of what apostasy entails is not consistent with the real definition.
With respect to paragraph eight, I wonder what would happen if the elders were to give lousy advice, and trouble ensues by following that advice.
I know the answer to this of course; it's too bad though that the article (or the Society) makes no provision for elders who don't know what they are doing.

They found a way to squeeze it into this coming weekend's study, too. They apply Jesus words about sending his followers out as sheep among wolves to having us avoid listening to apostates and their selfish trickery (paragraph 6). Kind of odd, since Jesus didn't say anything about avoiding the wolves. In fact, he SENT his followers out among the wolves.
That entire section of paragraph seems forced and out of place, regardless of the goofy misapplication of scripture. My guess is that it wasn't in the original article until someone decided, "hey, there's no anti-apostate message in this week's lesson, find someplace to put one in there."
