Hi everybody!! It's nice to be able to "run my mouth" again. Just wanted everyone to know that January 3 was my last day before retirement. Tomorrow I leave for TN to look for a house.
I had my heart set on one that was located on Carriage Drive, but even in the dead of winter (not on the east coast though) someone put a contract on it. I was very disappointed until my agent said that she listed another home on Carriage Drive on Jan 1...and it is one of 3 that are being listed by a Jehovah Witness family who want to go to Costa Rica. The virtual tour of the house looks absolutely beautiful and it becomes more and more apparent that Jehovah is at work seeing to it that his people are doing what they should.
I am hoping to be able to buy this beautiful house and help this family be on their way to other good things in Jehovah's service.
Thought you all might enjoy this!!
Love, Heather
P.S. Please say prayers that I can drive a round trip of more than 1000 miles in the next week. I usually only drive locally for a total of 634 miles a month. This is a bit scary. A co-worker has offered to ride down with me and then find her own way back...but I will come back alone.

Hello Jammin
I am so happy for you, and I also have to say that I am completely and unequivocally jealous! I wish you much peace and happiness in your new home. Maybe you'll miss some of the fireworks from the GT, I'm sure I'll have a much better view from NY. Also you'll be safe from tsunami's there.
Have a pleasant move!

Hi Jammin4-
Congratulations on your retirement. I hope you enjoy your new home. As I recall from your past discussions that you are going to Tennessee. I have been to the town that you said you were going. It's not very large but it is a beautiful area. Hope you enjoy it there!
As for the drive, you are fortunate to have a companion at least one way. It will make the drive far more interesting. The key on a long drive like that is to be sure to take rest stops every 2-3 of hours, if only for ten minutes or so.
Drive safely

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement! I'm planning to make the trip in two days instead of just one. Also another co-worker told me there are two faults under TN AND a nuclear plant in the state as well. Always gotta be something.

Thank you E&E...I am having a little trouble getting used to the concept of being paid NOT to work. I think that will ease up...once the checks start. Scary thing is the Federal government may take as long as two months to get my stipend started. I am praying hard for this all to work!!

Yep, I know about the waiting period. I also worked for the Government, but with the State and it took two months exacty for my lump sum as well as my pension checks to start direct deposit. But once they started all is well in retirement land. I have no difficulty whatsoever getting paid not to work I started working in 1966 and retired in 2006. (not 05)
I AM FLAT OUT TIRED. :D
Enjoy Jammin you surely deserve it.

Hi Jammin'
A big congratulations on your retirement! I think you will enjoy it - think of it and your move as a grand trip. NO MORE RAT RACE AND SOMEONE MOVING THE CHEESE!
Be the tourist every day when you get there. Tennessee is a beautiful state and we hope to move there in 3-4 years.

Hi jammin4
All I can say is lucky you.
If I get to retire in this system the Watchtower will have to go back to the drawing board on the 1914 teaching, if it's not a dead duck now it will be by the time I receive my pension.
Just think of all those wonderful hours you can spend reading while the rest of us are slogging it out.
Let's hope the Lords day is near as all young and old will praise Jah with youth and vitality.

Good morning everyone! Just an update in case you might be interested....first I should say that no one should EVER drive 600 miles in one day with practically no rest!! That's what I did yesterday coming back from TN to MD. I passed hundreds of trucks and maintained 5 miles above the speed limit nearly all of the way. This is all unheard of in my life!! Jehovah must've been driving.
I bought the JW house in TN. The greatest thrill of all, though, is that this helps a very devoted couple to serve Jehovah where the need is greater. Additionally, the entire transaction went so smoothly that it served as a witness to the real estate agent and the mortgage broker.
I am very happy. The congregation is very loving and welcoming.

Barry, if I had wanted this to be published in the WT, I would've sent the story to the Society. I posted it here to encourage others...here!!
