I'm always interested in comments that are made at the meetings, any of the five either by the speaker or members of the audience.

How many gems can you share?</span> :icon_rolleyes: </span>

Should be interesting to see if any go beyond what the WT has written.
Good idea to keep mind alert to the comments that are made. You may find that you are not the only one in your cong that is in the know.
Jah is going to gather us all together. His Hand is not short.

Don&#39;t have anything interesting right now, but from subtle comments made, I can tell several are aware of THE STUFF going on just as Stayawake has mentioned.

I cannot remember what the brother said, but one time he was making a point about something we discussed here on the board regarding 1914, and the BROTHER HANDLING THE WT CUT HIM RIGHT OFF. I remember chuckling in my seat.

You should get some interesting responses later on in the day though, Kenneth when more people log on after work.

Interestingly, apostates were mentioned twice in today&#39;s WT lesson, "Demons-How Can We Resist Them?" I haven&#39;t gone to the meeting yet, but when I was going over the lesson this morning it seemed that the main theme of this study is that reading the Bible daily and prayer are the best methods of resisting demonic influence. That&#39;s just my take on it.

A quote from the artice, "A thorough knowledge of God&#39;s Word protects us from Satan&#39;s lies and demonic propaganda as well as from the embittered outpourings of apostates."

I think we can all attest to the fact that a thorough knowledge of the Bible is a good way to protect ourselves from lies and deception, no matter what the source may be. Thankfully, this site has renewed my interest in studying and reading the Bible, and opened my eyes to many scriptures that have indeed given me protection from Satan&#39;s propaganda.

If I hear anything interesting at the meeting I&#39;ll come back later and post.

Candace-

Why is it is always assumed that the apostates are embittered? Of course, no doubt some of them are, but certainly not all. I can remember them standing with signs around some of past assemblies. We used to scoff at their "ignorance" and feel sad for them. Now, when I think about it, maybe they were just trying to help us see something that was actually wrong and we were too arrogant to notice.

Instead of &#39;fessing up to anything, they&#39;re just going to fight back with words.

We were reminded today to make sure that our thinking was in harmony with the teachings in the WT. During the prayer, the brother also warned about independent thinking because it leads to rebelliousness.

For the most part, people just parroted the thoughts expressed in the lesson. Very few comments deviated from what was already written on the page.

Yes it seems that you can’t pickup the bible without a publication in the other hand.

I was thinking of a comment that a sister made some weeks ago on the subject of false religion. She told us how careful we must be in that we don’t listen to certain programmes on the TV and radio. She mentioned ‘Thought for the Day’ on BBC radio two and four and how we need to steer clear of it. Well it just so happens I’ve been listening to it for years and find it the funniest five minutes on radio. Just how ridicules is it that we have to go to theses lengths and switch the radio off.

Has anyone heard the statement made "Theses ones" used in answers when certain individuals in the congregation fail to live up to expectations. Here&#39;s an example, when a young mother brings a colouring book to the meeting to keep the child occupied and another set of parents only allow the child to have &#39;My book of Bible stories&#39;. And so the comment is made, &#39;Theses ones&#39; who allow their children to bring such and such to the meeting, what are they teaching them? A very judgmental attitude in my opinion.

How can you make something your own if you are just reading from the publication. I hope this does not sound arrogant on my part.

Yesterday very few adults answered it was mostly children reading the paragraphs. It&#39;s good the kids take part, but this I found quite unusual.

Oh well

Dear e&e
please keep your ears open to that brothers comments that u feel was trying to say more then what the WT said.

Wouldnt it be something if he was one of our lurkers.
The thing is if he does that too often, his raised hand will just be ignored.

I havent been to a meeting in several years, but even then, it was mostly the little ones who were doing the comments.

Why not, its a good reading practice for them, and any adult that is not allowed to add to the comment, starts feeling like a fool.
One knows if the answer has to be read and nothing added that it certainly is not your own. Your just saying what is wanted to be said, until you yourself believe it.

I remember visiting friends up at the farm. They were outside waiting for us. We pulled into a empty parking space. The bro said we would have to move the car as that space belonged to so-so, but his wife said , oh the ones who use that space went away for the week end,so it wouln&#39;t hurt our parking there.
The bro counsiled his wife and asked , now what are the rules ??
Went on to say
We at Bethel are to be good examples as to be being obedient, as we will, more easily follow direction after Armegedden.
Then added to my husband"" and I thats the reason that no one over 39 were accepted to Bethel.
That they at 39 are already set in their ways and were unable to mold.""
That was about 20 years ago , One can see how the WT is tightening the ropes since then.

To know that the WT studies will be private soon is more frightening then one can imagine
All you dear ones going to the meetings
Keep on the WATCH

I too have noticed that it&#39;s mostly the little kids commenting these days... sometimes it&#39;s like Sunday school or something. Now I don&#39;t mind about the kids answering (especially when they do it in their own words!), but this prevents us from truly digging into the subject matter at hand. The whole study just seems to be about children reading questions like &#39;What/How/Who/Where (...) We will discuss this in the next paragraph&#39; for the entire study, leaving hardly any time to delve into the Scriptures.

Hey there may be a method to this madness.
It may be to call on all these little ones that raise their little hands, to show the adults the way they (WT) want the answers to be, right from the script.

Doing so these little ones get praised by the elders and the parents are ever so proud of their answering, that it will become competative among the little ones. A whole young generation will be molded, unknowingly.

Sounds nasty, but one never knows

Jehovahs cammand to His people were that the parents were responsible for teaching their children about HIM.
It was a obligation. It was to be a way of life, when you get up with them, walk with them, pointing out the beauty in Jahs creation all around us

It was not to be before a Sunday meeting to gather them to gether for a WT study and search for a short answer that they can have a say at the meeting. Come on now! Do you see whats happening !!! Its the Bible they are to love . Gods Word .

I only speak for myself

jesus loved the little children

"let the little children come to me"
he loved them for their unspoilt innocence, for their questioning attitude,
Everyone who has had children knows that the WHY? question is their favorite. and also how they believe the answer that their parents give and will repeat that answer if asked that question by someone else.

teaching a child, IMO, should be done with a reasoning approach that allows them to question and test everything, not in a dictorial manner that turns them into parrots.

You&#39;re so right, stayawake. That&#39;s why I love it when kids really make an effort to say things in their own words, it shows that they care about the subject and have given it thought. These are usually the ones who grow up to be good Christians instead of parrots.
