" no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and i will raise him up at the last day"

i find that statement by Christ quite amazing.

and the next one also

" it is written in the prophets, " they shall all be taught by God",
Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me"

what is Christ telling us in these scriptures?
does Jehovah have an active part in guiding people to His Son, how so?

any help with understanding greatly appreciated.

Everyone, EVERYONE!
ALL will be given the opportunity to hear His Name!
How?
By man's means: Door-to-door, the news, the Internet.
By God's means: Bypassing man's means while staring at the stars at night,
watching sunlight pass thru a drop of rain, watching nature in action.
There has to be a better place than this,,,

“Every way of a man is upright in his own eyes, but Jehovah is making an estimate of hearts.” (Prov 21:2)

“I, Jehovah am searching the heart, examining the kidneys, even to give to each one according to his ways, according to the fruitage of his dealings.” (Jeremiah 17:10)

“…and God, who knows the heart, bore witness by giving them the holy spirit, just as he did to us also. And he made no distinction at all between us and them, but purified their hearts by faith.” (Acts 15:8-9)

These scriptures say it quite plainly. This is how Jehovah works.

yes we can hear the gospel and respond to it, we can see God in the creation of everything, but what makes one person see those things and another not see those things?
what makes a person respond positively to the gospel and another to reject it?
these are some of the questions that i am pondering.

yes those scriptures are a good insight into how Jehovah works and clearly show that he is active in guiding people to Christ.

in the context of the scriptures The scriptures around john 6 christ is talking to the pharisees who obviously do not believe that jesus is who he claims to be.
he tells them

"do not murmur among yourselves"
"no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him"

even those who were classed as his disciples found his teaching unpalatble becuase they failed to understand the spiritual meaning of his words about his flesh and blood

they said
" this is a hard saying who can understand it"
and because of these sayings scripture tells us many stopped following him

"from that time many of bis disciples went back and walked with him no more"

why did'nt they understand?

"and they shall all be taught by God"

Jehovah had not taught them they did not understand they could not be part of Christ they could not eat his flesh and drink his blood.

christ explains

"therefore i have said to you that no one can come to me unless it has been Granted By My Father"

what a marvellous gift to be granted to go to Christ by Jehovah

These posts brought to mind 1 cor. 2:11- 13 "For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of man that is in him? So, too, no one has come to know the things of God, except the spirit of God. Now we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God, that we might know the hings that have been kindly given us by God. These things we also speak, not with words taught by human wisdom, but with those taught by the spirit, as we combine spiritual matters with spiritual words."

9 “And you, Sol′o·mon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a complete heart and with a delightful soul; for all hearts Jehovah is searching, and every inclination of the thoughts he is discerning. If you search for him, he will let himself be found by you; but if you leave him, he will cast you off forever.

And they will certainly rejoice and see the plummet in the hand of Ze·rub′ba·bel. These seven are the eyes of Jehovah. They are roving about in all the earth.”

And they will certainly stagger from sea all the way to sea, and from north even to the sunrise. They will keep roving about while searching for the word of Jehovah, but they will not find [it]. 13 In that day the pretty virgins will swoon away, also the young men, because of the thirst;

5 Go roving about in the streets of Jerusalem and see, now, and know, and seek for yourselves in her public squares whether YOU can find a man, whether there exists anyone doing justice, anyone seeking faithfulness, and I shall forgive her.

9 For, as regards Jehovah, his eyes are roving about through all the earth to show his strength in behalf of those whose heart is complete toward him.

From the preceding scriptures Jehovah is keenly aware of any human that has a hart and spirit favorable for extending forgiveness. Whether it is in there present life or that which is to come during the resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous, thousand year reign of Christ.

hi greymourning,
that sums it up nicely just another few scripture to add

"if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink,
"he who believes in me as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water"
john 7v38

ask and it will be given, seek and you will find and to anyone who knocks the door will be opened"

which fits nicely with what you have posted truthseeker

" but the hour has come and is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him"
" God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" john 4:23,24

tell me if i am wrong on this but scripture seems clear in showing that those who believe in the Christ are spirit begotten born again persons.

This was explained so beautifully and reminds me of this scripture

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" john 4:24

Its the inner spirit of god which drives a man, and the heart condition enforces it. This along with Angelic guidance and the holy spirit is what guides us and helps us search for truth as hidden treasure.
What a wonderful blessing indeed.

Hi Shikinah

i agree Greymourning captured my thoughts in a paragraph.
and what has really been at the forefront of my thoughts lately is how priviliged and honoured a person is to be granted to go to Christ by Jehovah.

its like a feedback circuit

Jehovah guides us to Christ and Christ guides us to Jehovah, what a powerful circle that is
i think that is why Christ said

" my sheep hear my voice, and i know them and they follow me.
And i give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand.
My Father who has given them to Me, is greater than all; no one is able to snatch them out of my Fathers hand"
"i and the Father are one"
john 10:27,28,29,30
