Hello,

This is JB's wife. We are both studying with JW's and I came across something that I feel is important and JB directed me to this site. I do not have a profile so I am posting this under his name.

I was reading the book of Jude and came across verse 15 (i am using my study bible New Living Translation) at the end of the verse there is a note that indicates that this quote came from the Apocrypha: Enoch 1:9. I am new to learning the bible for myself and am shocked that this book is not included, yet is quoted in the bible.

I found what appears to be the complete book on http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm and I am currently reading it, but I am so excited about this find that I wanted to post to see if I could get more information as to why it is not included in the bible? I know there are other texts not recognized but I never knew that they were quoted in the bible and to me, this lends a bit of authenticity to the text if quoted in the bible.

Just reaching out for some insight on this one. :)

Thanks!
Mrs. JB

i have written about enoch, and other apochrapha about 10 articles here,
the apochrapha[lost books of the bible] are books that jehovah allowed to survive because many of the writers were on speaking terms with jehovah and so god preserved the memorys of these men,
these books are exactly that ,memorial stones for the writers, they are not the words uttered by jehovah god for the instruction of mankind.
although they may be inspired by jehovahs deeds and lucifurs deeds they just dont belong with the holy bible. they are great works of literature from human veiwpoints and they add some flavor to history, i read the book of adam and eve ,
i found it quite interesting how the 2 jumped of a mountain to commit suicide and onley bruised and injured themselves, i enjoyed enochs encounter with the angel who described the prison of the angels, i read the book of cain , and the book of gilgemesh[nimrod] fun reading i guess better than reading the national gosiper! i truely was exited to find that in the book of mormon the book moroni contains the words lost in a certain gospel no great discovery but i was pleased to see jesuss words writen that say anyone who looks for religious arguments and invents new doctorine is from the devil! i got a kick out of it, have fun reading the first vampire story ever written[way worse than dracula because its real!] written by cain. but treat those books like what they are ancient fiction, i especialy liked homers odessy told by nimrod, odesus sinbad, gilgemesh, or what ever you want to call his charactor..and the tall tails of how daniel [lions den] saved the city from the fire breathing dragon with a kind of chewing gum. read the story of the figs as big as watermelons that god gave adam, use a little care and these books should do you no harm because none of the storys tell you to do something bad although the book of adam and eve does depict jehovah to be somewhat of a i told you so.god
