Hello friends
This is just a quick note to let those interested know I have set up a new blog and am now active on Facebook. The reason for the new blog has to do with creating back-links to The Watchman's Post. The deal is, as I have mentioned elsewhere, the e-watchman.com domain had fallen off into search engine Sheol in the past few years. I had been pretty much resigned to let it stay there until it came to my attention that since moving to the Square Space platform at the first of the year e-w has actually experienced a resurrection of sorts. So, encouraged by the resurgence from Sheol, I am making strides to optimize the site and get as many incoming links as I can. Yeah, I know, I should be studying Jehovah's Word and not search engine optimization material, but, what can I say, it is an obsession with me.
Just tweaking the internal URLs the other day, thus adding the essential keyword "jehovahs-witnesses" into the browser window, caused the e-w.com to jump overnight from page 20 to page 12 on Google when one enters the search term "Jehovah's Witnesses."
E-w has already garnered a front page listing on Yahoo (although listings change from day to day - both up and down) but, obsessions being what they are, I will not be content until e-w is on the front page of Google for the relevant keyword search terms. (page 2 for "Watchtower Society")
Anyway, the way Google algorithms work they determine the number of sites linking to yours as a sort of popularity vote. As it stands, pro JW sites won't link to e-w because I am considered an apostate and apostate sites won't link to e-w because I am considered too pro JW. I know, it s a whacky world. So, the solution is to create your own back-links. I have spent the past few days listing e-w on numerous website directories (which I did years ago, but there are many new ones now and the old ones have gone). Also, I will be writing JW related articles on the Religion/Spirituality section for various article repositories like ezine (http://ezinearticles.com/?cat=News-and-Society:Religion) and dozens of others, to generate some back-link action. Hence, that is why I set up a new Blogger blog (http://watchman-4jehovahs-witnesses.blogspot.com/)to host articles that will appear in various versions on the article repository sites. The deal is though, e-w will be best served if the material hosted elsewhere does not also appear on the e-w domain. I know, it gets complicated. How did I get into all this the weirdness? I can't remember.
That brings us to Facebook. (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000489204579&v=wall)Not really sure how I am going to develop that site but the reality is there are thousands of JW's who use it. I want to be findable when things blow up. So, I keep hammering away.
Also, started up a new page on e-w discussing the basic teaching of the Bible, (Beliefs) which I try to update daily to give the search engines something. But you may find something of value too. If you are out and about on other forums or have a blog please consider posting a back link to e-watchman.com
That's about it. look for a new podcast and video early in the week.
