Dear Friends,
Some of you have shard upbuilding thoughts and/or poems. I am making a book of them, so please send us what you found encouraging. I am sending a poem written by a brother in the early 1900's.
<div align="center">MY SACRIFICE</div>
<div align="center"> </div>
<div align="center">Lord, on your altar, oh my Lord divine,</div>
<div align="center">Accept this gift today, for Jesus’ sake.</div>
<div align="center">I have no jewels to adorn your shrine,</div>
<div align="center">Nor any world-famed sacrifice to make.</div>
<div align="center">But here I bring, within my trembling hand,</div>
<div align="center">This will of mine – a thing that may seem small.</div>
<div align="center">And you alone, O Lord, can understand</div>
<div align="center">How, when I give you this, I yield my all.</div>
<div align="center"> </div>
<div align="center">Hidden therein your searching gaze can see</div>
<div align="center">Struggles of passion, visions of delight.</div>
<div align="center">All that I have, or am, or yet would be –</div>
<div align="center">Deep loves, fond hopes, and longings infinite.</div>
<div align="center">It has been wet with tears, and dimmed with sighs,</div>
<div align="center">Clenched in my grasp ‘til beauty has it none.</div>
<div align="center"> Now from your footstool, where it conquered lies,</div>
<div align="center">This prayer ascends – “May your will be done”.</div>
<div align="center"> </div>
<div align="center">Take it, O Father, ere my courage fail;</div>
<div align="center">And merge it so in your own will that e’en,</div>
<div align="center">If in some desperate hour my cries prevail,</div>
<div align="center">And you give back my gift, it may have been</div>
<div align="center">So changed, so purified, so fair have grown,</div>
<div align="center">So one with you, so filled with peace divine,</div>
<div align="center">I may not know or feel it as my own;</div>
<div align="center">But, gaining back my will, may find it thine.</div>
