I will put my law within them, and in their heart I shall write it.—Jer. 31:33.

Jesus sounded down Jehovah’s law into the minds and hearts of his disciples by the things he said and did. This law is called “the law of the Christ.” It was first given to a spiritual nation, “the Israel of God.” (Gal. 6:2, 16; Rom. 2:28, 29) Unlike the natural Israelites, who were bound to the Mosaic Law by birth, Christians remain under the law of the Christ by choice. They learn about Jehovah and his ways and yearn to do his will. Having God’s law “within them,” written, as it were, “in their heart,” anointed Christians do not obey God merely because he can punish those who disobey; nor do they obey him solely out of a sense of duty. Their obedience is rooted in something more fundamental and vastly more powerful, and those of the other sheep are similarly obedient because of having God’s law in their hearts. w 8/15/05 6-8b

This scripture is encouraging to me because it foretells a time when we will not be burdened with man's laws and regulations. When we look at the context around this scripture we can see how Jehovah will act on our behalf in the future:

(Jeremiah 31:31-34) 31 “Look! There are days coming,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and I will conclude with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah a new covenant; 32 not one like the covenant that I concluded with their forefathers in the day of my taking hold of their hand to bring them forth out of the land of Egypt, ‘which covenant of mine they themselves broke, although I myself had husbandly ownership of them,’ is the utterance of Jehovah.” 33 “For this is the covenant that I shall conclude with the house of Israel after those days,” is the utterance of Jehovah. “I will put my law within them, and in their heart I shall write it. And I will become their God, and they themselves will become my people.” 34 “And they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother, saying, ‘KNOW Jehovah!’ for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them,” is the utterance of Jehovah. “For I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more.”

Won't that be a wonderful time? :ban_dance01:

Hey Good Morning Out There :ban_dance01:

Points positve for me today are: When we learn about Jehovah and his ways this motivates us to do what Jehovah asks of us out of LOVE for Jehovah, and by not wanting to ever offend him in anyway, and especially because of all he has done and is going to do for those who continue to love him and hold on to him and does his will the way He wants it to be done...

Jehovah only asks that we do the best we can in our imperfect state and Jehovah knows our hearts. We can fool man and even deceive ourselves but we cannot fool or deceive ALMIGHTY GOD JEHOVAH with so called righteousness from so called obedience (Rituals, form of Godly devotion, etc.)

Jehovah knows all of what we do and why we do it, DO WE?

Good Morning (afternoon or evening, if that is your case) All-

As Candace mentioned this is a future event. In the 1st century the anointed had Jehovah's spirit in a measure that is not in evidence today. They were curing the sick and even raising the dead, but that spirit must have run its course and disappeared by early in the 2nd century. This future outpouring of spirit on the "Israel of God" will be an evident demonstration that they have Jehovah's backing. I am sure that this will aggravate Satan exceedingly. Is it any wonder that he will want them destroyed. And by their destruction, they will prove their loyalty to Jehovah right down to the end, and will further prove that Satan is a liar. (Job 2: 4,5)

I think that is why I find the endless use of the word "obey" by the WTS so offensive. I don't believe that any of this is a matter of obedience. I personally consider it to be matter of loyalty to Jehovah based on our love for Him. It is a matter of trying to imitate God (or, Jesus, who was his exact representation) and trying to conform my ways and attitudes to His, thereby doing things as He would. Don't get me wrong, I'm a long way from actually managing to accomplish it. But to have His will written on one's heart would not mean being technically in conformity to a set of rules, but being in harmony with the spirit behind the rules.
