I will dwell in the house of Jehovah to the length of days.—Ps. 23:6.

David speaks from a heart filled with gratitude and faith—gratitude in recalling the past and faith in looking to the future. This former shepherd is secure, knowing that as long as he stays close to his heavenly Shepherd, as if dwelling in His house, he will always be the object of Jehovah’s loving care. How thankful we are for the beautiful words recorded in the 23rd Psalm! David could hardly have found a more fitting way to describe how Jehovah leads, protects, and feeds his sheep. David’s warm expressions have been preserved to give us confidence that we too can look to Jehovah as our Shepherd. Yes, as long as we stay close to Jehovah, he will care for us as a loving Shepherd “to the length of days,” even to all eternity. w 11/1/05 19, 20

I'm having some difficult days already for some time, regarding the possibility of losing my job and maybe needing another one to be able to support my family, but when reading these words, I feel a lot of relief.

When faced with the loss of a job, I have found that Jehovah always has something better in store for me. I have a long history of having to leave one job after another, and always ended up improving my situation.

One year I had to quit two different jobs because they interfered with meetings. This led to a job that supported me in the pioneer work for a few years. Later on I had to leave jobs because of health problems, even mental stress problems! Several times I was out of work because of work-related accidents. Even though I had stressful times, and sometimes didn't know how I was going to get the bills paid, Jehovah made things work out each and every time.

The stress you experience when faced with these life-altering situations is real. It's human. We can't help but have some level of stress over these matters. But we can always look back and see how Jehovah helped us get through it. I know Jehovah will help you too, Barry.

(Psalm 37:25-26) 25 A young man I used to be, I have also grown old, And yet I have not seen anyone righteous left entirely, Nor his offspring looking for bread. 26 All day long he is showing favor and lending, And so his offspring are in line for a blessing.
