View Full Version : Earth To Bethel!

Went to the meeting today and was totally disapointed by the same ol' watery soup with no meat. Todays topic was about "Evelution" and Man, Made in God's image. Dont mean to sound disrespectful, But anyone who is affiliated with any religeous organization knows that man didnt evolve from a ape. The brother goes into this long spill about the Geneses account so on and so forth. At this point im fighting bordem. I look around and feel slightly encouraged to see that my sentalments are reflected in the droopy eys and blank stares of the other brothers and sisters.

I began to wonder what in the world is going on at Bethel? Living in the most exciting time in all of human history The best outline we can come up with for a talk is EVELUTION! Why are they not directing the elders to start upbuilding the sheep with how to stay strong. Or talk about how the things we see around us connects to proshecy. Better yet why not talk about things that will take place very shortly in the emediate future.?!?! Its like they ran out of MEAT. and now they're down to the last few cans of food in the pantry. What in the WORLD IS GOING ON AT BETHEL!

It`s like if you`ve ever babysat someone else`s child when an Elvis movie comes on the tv and the kid is asking `who`s that - who`s that ! ?` and you just want to skip the explanation and get to the bit about how overated it is. Or move on to fundamentals like why the sky is blue.

I share your sentiments Gabriel. It is frustrating. I would be starving spiritually for more meat if I wasn't here at this DB. I have learned more here in the past five months than I did attending all meetings at the Kingdom Hall and conventions combined in the last five years. Are you listening Bethel? Perhaps this is one reason why we have as many leaving the organization out the back door as we have new ones coming in through the front.

Bethel's attitude is that you have an attitude problem. You must not appreciate the spiritual food they serve up. The real problem, as far as public talks go, is that the speakers use the same old outlines that they may have used for the past 10 or 15 years, or longer. Things tend to get a little stale.

I support what watchman just posted 100 %
My husband had been a elder for twenty years before he passed away.
I remember a time when the talks he had on file for about ten years, were to all be updated
HOW WERE THEY !!

Believe it or not the only changes that were made were updating current events to that date usually local, and new exsperiences.
I use to draw his attention to what hit the papers that I thought was interesting.

So this is the new light that these updated Puplic Talks Have. The Puplic read it sometime way before you hear it

Hi Gabriel,

We had the talk on Evolution just a few weeks ago. While it was pretty boring, there was one thing I heard that caught my interest. The speaker said one reason for promoting the theory of evolution was in relation to sexual freedom. Since the animal kingdom doesn't have marriage, and many animals "do it" with many other animals (of course, within their species), that the teaching of evolution opened the door for humans to do that same thing and not have their conscience bothered.

Before hearing this talk, I thought that evolution was just a way to avoid giving Jehovah credit for creation, and therefore a way to avoid having to be accountable to a Creator. I never realized the true extent of the damage wrought by this satanic teaching. In fact, there were probably other good points made too, but the brother's thick accent made it hard for me to follow. I have to get my ears trained to understand English in a thick Swedish accent, lol!

See, Thats what im talkin about. Why must every legetimate question be precieved as an attitude by them? We truely are living in a time when earth shattering events are soon to take place, and because I want to to hear something from the platform that will help me to be able to cope with such events, Bethel precieve me as "having an attitude problem" (?!?!) Im sorry Bethel but concidring the times we're living in I dont wanna hear nothing about EVELUTION. We already know we didnt come from a monkey's uncle...and guess what....so does the average joe. So can we get on to something thats going to give us real strength and encouragement?

Hey gang, remember 10 years ago and even further back when we used to get hear talks from the platform that was electrifying! How we we're glued to the public talk? Every scripture that was quoted we we're eager to look up. and we left the meeting buzzing about how we enjoyed it. It even gave our ministry a boost! Now its like everyone is in daze. Jehovahs spirit is at a trickle compared to what it used to be. Hey Buddy, No attitude here, Just wanna be kept alert as to prophecy and how they're related to current events. The world is on fire and we're talking monkeys? Did I miss something?

Hi Gabriel,

I hope you don't stop attending just because of the boring talks. If that was the case I would not be there, and neither would lots of other freinds. (YES I KNOW ATTENDANCE IS DOWN), and sometimes I feel like I am gonna scream. But I just deal with it and do lots of personal study and research. It has helped so very much.

I am also in a new cong. and it is WONDERFUL.

I also make sure I have a few sisters I can share spiritual thoughts with. This helps very much. (Yes I am cautious trust me - smiling)

Just hold on tight, and think of all the folks you will be able to help out.

That's what I am doing. My focus now is to be of encouragement to the friends. I make sure I am circulating myself around and getting to know who is really who. The friends at my cong though are very loving. They are full of hugs, and encouragement. They sincerely want to know who I am as I want to know who they are.

My field service activity is great thanks to Jehovah. He is showing me exactly what to do and it is working. I speak about the Kingdom and use the Bible. So far no one has said anything except "you are doing well, I think I will steal that point do you mind?" I have taken the suggestions that others have given me and that I have given others.

We can find a way to cope and keep holding on if WE PUT JEHOVAH FIRST AND NOT OURSELVES.

Sometimes I have to say a mini prayer and ask Jehovah to keep me in my seat. He must answer because I have not run out of the hall yet. I play hookey sometimes, like this week I am not attending my book study, I will go to another one later in the week.

My mind just cannot handle the bkstudy on my night this week, and I know this, but I do not want to miss out being with the friends. I am going to do whatever it is E & E needs to do to continue to be of encouragement to my brothers and sisters and to strengthen my relationship with Jehovah. I put aside all my little issues and just do what I need to do. WITH JEHOVAHS HELP I AM STAYING FOCUSED. I did not always do that. But I have learned from prayer what is important to Jehovah and what is nonsense. So if it means going to another meeting for a night or a different bookstudy on a different night so be it. Changing up and visiting others is ok every once in awhile.

I now stay FOCUSED ON THE ISSUES AND JEHOVAH'S PROMISES.

I just try to find ways to cope and I ask JEHOVAH TO PLEASE HELP ME BECAUSE I WANT TO SERVE HIM AND IF ATTENDING MEETINGS IS ONE OF THE WAYS I DO THIS FOR NOW, THEN SO BE IT.

One of my favorite sayings as I know you all know by now is JUST DO WHAT JEHOVAH TELLS US TO DO AND LET HIM WORK OUT THE DETAILS.

So don't give up OKEY DOKEY Gabriel. KEEP TRYING YOU CAN DO IT. I DID AND IT WAS NOT EASY TRUST ME. I DID IT BY PRAYER AND REMEMBERING JEHOVAH HAS AN ARRANGEMENT. I will work within that arrangement until Jehovah says "OKEY DOKEY E & E about face forward march hup, hup hup 2, 3, hup 2, 3. :ban_dance01: .

It will be OKEY DOKEY Gabriel, IT AIN'T EASY, JUST HOLD ON DON'T GIVE UP PLEASE.

Best to you Gabriel lots of hugs and love to you and your family.

Sisterly love

MATTHEW 24:13 But he that has ENDURED TO THE END is the ONE that will be saved.

Heb 12 1 & 2 So then, because we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also put off every weight and the sin that easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us (2) as we LOOK INTENTLY AT THE CHIEF AGENT and Perfecter of our faith, Jesus. For the joy that was set before him he ENDURED A TORTURE STAKE despising shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

E&E - I love your posts, they are so upbuilding to me. Wow.

And by the way, my husband believes in Evolution. I would have liked to have him hear a talk on it, (even though I not sure if he'd appreciate because he doesn't "get" the bible either) (Sigh) What to do.

I understand where you are comnig from gab. I do.

I know this topic is here a while but i just only got it as im new here
I also go along with watchmans comments on spritual food and that we need to appreciate.

last month month we had also ther topic of evolution discussed in the theocratic ministry school i had one of the talks myself so the slave must find it neccesarry to the bring that to our attetion especially as were are bombarded in schools and tv programs with evolution ideas.
And maybe its not for us personally but it is a good reminder all the same of how we can help people who believe in Evolutuiion who we meet in the field

Todd, I can guarantee that if you challenge anyone's beliefs outright, you will not set the stage for civil discussion. Regardless of what the WTS says, a direct challenge may work with corporations and organizations, but it will have the opposite effect on the ground.

You shouldn't "pitty" anyone for having beliefs that differ from yours. listen to them, understand them, and THEN, if you feel you are still correct, reason with them. You can always learn something if you allow yourself to. otherwise, you're just telling them that they're wrong...

sorry but i dont think u got my point

i never said anything about a direct approach or not i just stated the fact that discussion about the evolution theory at our meetings can help us to help people in the field and whther that is by direct approuach or by subbtle reasoning depends on the situation and the way your conversation is going and how open to agreement a person is

I absolutely agree, learning about others is the best approach, but thats not something the WTS is really interested in... the WTS certainly does not want anyone to learn MORE about the theory of evolution.

Friends,
May Jehovah be praised. Remember that we are living for Jehovah. Remember when the Israelites were right on the brink of the promised land? Remember them complaining about the way Moses did everything? All he was doing was following Jehovah's spirit(and it was alot easier to follow then than now , with the pillar of fire by day and the pillar of fire by night). He even made a HUGE mistake, remember..."must Aaron and I get water from a rock for you?" ...Ok so we CAN a DO make mistakes...the beauty of Jehovah's people?...they own up to their mistakes! David with bathsheba, Jonah and the whale, Job and his attitude...
As far as the Suday meeting, does anyone remember what it is titled? "The PUBLIC Talk.
Friends, it's for the public! Why not look at the bullitan board and when we see talks that are milky lets make some icecream for the children...Jesus litlle sheep and throughout the week when we approach Jesus' lil sheep in the ministry we can let them know we have a "PUBLIC TALK" that we are inviting all intrested ones to , there is no collection ...and hey! we even have little slips designed to help us invite members of our community to the meeting....Remember let us all go on "preaching with BOLDNESS" just like our mentor Jesus and bring honor to our Great God Jehovah...everything else is nothing more than details...."Love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and love your neighbor as yourself."
May Jehovah continue to bless us all

woops ...see mistakes pillar of cloud by day and fire by night....by the way have we all meditated on the WHY of cloud by day and fire by night....THEY WERE IN THE DESERT!!! It's Hot during the day thus Jehovah provided a cloud and coooooold at night...thus the pillar of fire....Jehovah TRULY LOVES us does he not....Here we are in this cold dark night in this old system of things and yet how often I have opened the Bible and Jehovah's spirit warms the cold corners of my heart....

You show me a religious group that owns up to their mistakes, and I will take a look. Otherwise, I've not seen them in my travels.

The bible is written so people don't have to admit a mistake. Its just "new light".

/Other than that, Welcome to the board Teddy.

Hey there Sketch. Here's another one. (http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1101)

These apologies are indeed rare, and even more rare are the sincere ones. Oh well, I guess Jehovah knows who is sorry and who isn't.
