Times Online has the news story on this. Seems intriguing to me since I recall Blair saying he wanted out of politics and now he is jumping right back into the frying pan again.

Just seems odd that there would be a warmonger set up as a 'peace envoy'.

Makes perfect sense to me. You just have to understand Orwellian thinking, such as war is peace, and all that. Or in this case warmonger means peace envoy. Maybe we'll get the peace and security thing out of his efforts.

The West might say and pretend it wants peace in the Middle East, but its actions prove the complete opposite, they want war and to wipe out all Israels enemies.
However, to keep the voters happy, they have to pretend to be doing the right thing.
So what better way than sending a hated, proven, War Monger like Blair, into the Middle East to promote peace, its bound not to work but it might look like thet are trying.
"We tryed to bring peace to those people, we really tried, but they are just a bunch of terrorists so we will now just have to bomb thier schools!".

</a>heres another article written a few years ago about Blairs interest in Catholicism - it makes very clear the "religion and politics connection"
maybe this is why he now has chosen to convert from Anglican to Catholic - because he is no longer holding office of prime minister - but i cant help thinking theres more to it

it is a done deal apparently that their shipping Blair off to the Middle East as the West's official "peace envoy." Apparently the powers-that-be thought he did such a good job laying the ground work for the destruction of Iraq that they wanted to have him work his magic on the entire region. It is a crazy world.

Here is a news article form the CS Monitor that quotes a bunch of different news agencies concerning Blair's appointment.
