Hello all,

I have a question I have never really considered before. Are there only 4 Living Creatrues? Ezekiel describes the 4 Living Creatures as being the same as the Cherubs. We are also told that Satan was the Edenic Cherub. Was Satan one of the 4 Living Creatures? Was he replaced? Is the 4 Living Creatures merely a symbolic term, not indicating literal number? Are the 4 Living Creatures a specific order of Cherubs, the number of which is limited to 4?

Help please.

Dear SlaveForJah
This may get this started.

Unless you already have a opinion, I would venture to GUESS that MAYBE the four living creatures picture Jehovahs attrabutes.

Truth is I want know what others think about this just as much as you do. So im gonna set back and let stayawake take the first bite. (wink-wink)

Hello stayawake and Gabriel,

Thank you both for your responses. I do not have an opinion already. I believe that you are at least partly correct in your assesment that the 4 Living Creatures "picture Jehovah's attributes." But this does not answer why they are described in the following manner: "And in the midst of the throne and around the throne [there are] four living creatures that are full of eyes in front and behind. 7 And the first living creature is like a lion, and the second living creature is like a young bull, and the third living creature has a face like a man's, and the fourth living creature is like a flying eagle. 8 And as for the four living creatures, each one of them respectively has six wings; round about and underneath they are full of eyes. And they have no rest day and night as they say: "Holy, holy, holy is Jehovah God, the Almighty, who was and who is and who is coming." - Revelation 4:6b-8

If the 4 Living Creatures are only a symbolic representation of Jehovah's cardinal attributes, then why are they recorded in both Ezekiel and Revelation as speaking...and in Revelation as offering incessant worship in Jehovah's presence, in addition to summoning forth the 4 Horsemen?

I am puzzled as to the answers to these questions, and look forward to input from any and all. Thank you so kindly for your answers stayawake and Gabriel.

I don't think there's anything in the Bible addressing this issue specifically, so that may explain the lack of answers. Personally, I think that the 4 living creatures are 4 literal cherubs. Perhaps there are more than 4 cherubs, of which the living creatures are part. In any case, I do not think that the 4 living creatures are merely symbolic (Jehovah has a lot more than just 4 'attributes', after all).

What, did you think the Demons we're Original? Satan and his hordes try to mimic Father in just about everything. Not just because they want to be like him but to Mock him. Example...The beautiful rainbow that father gave mankind as his covenant that he wouldnt never destroy the earth again by a flood, Satan and his demons turned around and used it as a symbol of HOMOSEXUALITY.

Now, this is just another impression that could be wrong but in going back to Love, WIsdom, Justice, and Power. I think you're onto something there. Because remember in Proverbs Wisdom speaks.........alot. When I looked up Rev 4:6 and saw the cross references I didn't understand really, til I read Rev 12:11. But reading above at verse 10 it mentioned "they" in verse 11 as the salvation and power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ *shrugs* I gotta read more.......even theory doesn't fit, I guess. Then again though Revelation is a fave book of mine, it's hard to understand for myself.
