Today's text:

Micah 4:5 - "For all the peoples, for their part, will walk each one in the name of its god; but we, for our part, shall walk in the name of Jehovah our God to time indefinite, even forever".

comment from WT 2005/11/1 (translated from Dutch)

To walk with Jehovah God will result in a satisfying life. Don't forget the assurance Jehovah gave his people if they would seek the 'good way'. He told them: "walk in it, and find ease for YOUR souls" (Jer 6:16). What does it mean to 'find ease for their souls'? An easy life full of pleasures and luxury? No, Jehovah gives something much better, something the richest of the earth rarely find. Ease for the soul means inner ease, joy, pleasure en spiritual satisfaction. It boils down to being sure of having found the best way of living. Such a tranquility of mind is a seldom blessing in this hard world.

Of course life as such is a great blessing. Even a short life is better than no life at all. However it was never Jehovah's will that our lives would exist out of a short journey which takes us from the strength of our youth to the griefs of age. No, Jehovah wants us to receive the greatest blessing of all. He wants us to walk with Him for ever. That is nicely said in Micah 4:5:"For all the peoples, for their part, will walk each one in the name of its god; but we, for our part, shall walk in the name of Jehovah our God to time indefinite, even forever".

much love,
